Count it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials. Know that the testing of your faith produces patience (endurance).
The proof of your faith is more precious than gold that perishes. Though it is tested by fire, it may be found in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
What is man that you should magnify him and set your mind on him? For you examine us every morning and test us every moment.
Jehovah tests (examines) righteous and wicked people alike. He hates wicked people and the ones who love violence.
I will turn my power against you (turn the back of my hand upon you). I will remove your impurities with bleach. I will get rid of all your worthless qualities.

Jehovah said to Moses: I am going to cause food to rain down from the sky for all of you. The people must go out every day and gather enough for that day. In this way I can test them to find out if they will follow my instructions.
Remember the forty years Jehovah your God led you in the wilderness. He did this in order to humble you and test you. He wanted to know what was in your heart. Moses responded: Do not be afraid. God has only come to test you and to inspire you to obey him, so that you will not sin.
He fed you in the desert with manna. Your fathers had never seen this. He did this in order to humble you and test you. But he also did this so that things would go well for you in the end.

Jehovah told him: Separate everyone who laps up the water with his tongue like a dog, from everyone who gets down on his knees to drink. Jehovah said: I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Use the three hundred men who lapped the water. Tell everyone else to go home.
When the leaders of Babylon sent ambassadors to ask him about the miraculous sign that had happened in the land, God left him. God did this to test him, to find out everything that was in Hezekiah's heart.

Do not be conformed to this world (religious, social, political, and economic arrangement). But be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Prove what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.
You have probed my heart. You have confronted me at night. You have tested me like silver, but you found nothing wrong. I have decided that my mouth will not sin.
Examine me, O God, and know my heart. Test me and know my anxious (troubled) (painful) (disturbing) thoughts.
Examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith. Prove your own selves. Do you not know this about yourselves that Jesus Christ is with you, unless you are disqualified?
Each of you must examine your own actions. Then you can be proud of your own accomplishments without comparing yourself to others.
Now if any man builds upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, and stubble; every man's work will be made known, for the day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will prove what sort every man's work is.
