Give sentence with me, O God, and defend my cause against the ungodly people; O deliver me from the deceitful and wicked man.

"Now, for the comfortless troubles' sake of the needy, and because of the deep sighing of the poor, I will arise," saith the LORD, "and will help them, and set them at rest."

Woe be unto you that make unrighteous laws, and devise things, which be too hard for to keep: wherethrough the poor are oppressed on every side, and the innocents of my people are therewith robbed of judgment: that widows may be your prey, and that ye may rob the fatherless. What will ye do in time of the visitation and destruction, that shall come from far? To whom will ye run for help? Or to whom will ye give your honour, that he may keep it?

Wrest not the law, nor know any person, neither take any reward: for gifts blind the wise and pervert the words of the righteous.

Woe unto them that imagine to do harm, and devise ungraciousness upon their beds, to perform it in the clear day: for their power is against God. Therefore thus sayeth the LORD: Behold, against this household have I devised a plague, whereout ye shall not pluck your necks. Ye shall no more go so proudly, for it will be a perilous time.

And say unto him, 'Thus sayeth the LORD: thou hast killed and thereto gotten possession.' And say moreover unto him, 'Thus sayeth the LORD: in the place where dogs lapped the blood of Naboth, shall dogs lap even thy blood also.'"

A false witness shall not remain unpunished; and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

A false witness shall perish; but he that will be content to hear, shall always have power to speak himself.

Forsomuch then as ye oppress the poor, and rob him of his best sustenance: therefore, where as ye have builded houses of square stone, ye shall not dwell in them. Marvelous pleasant vineyards shall ye plant; but the wine of them shall ye not drink. And why? As for the multitude of your wickednesses and your stout sins, I know them right well. Enemies are ye of the righteous; ye take rewards; ye oppress the poor in judgment.

Hear this, O ye that oppress the poor, and destroy the needy in the lands, saying, "When will the new month be gone, that we may sell victuals; and the Sabbath, that we may have scarceness of corn; to make the bushel less, and the Sicle greater? We shall set up false weights, that we may get the poor under us with their money, and the needy also for shoes: yea let us sell the chaff for corn."read more.
The LORD hath sworn against the pride of Jacob, "These works of theirs will I never forget.

Woe to that bloodthirsty city, which is all full of lies and robbery, and will not leave off from ravishing.

I will come and punish you, and I myself will be a swift witness against the witches, against the adulterers, against false swearers: yea, and against those that wrongfully keep back the hireling's duty, which vex the widows and the fatherless, and oppress the stranger, and fear not me, sayeth the LORD of Hosts.

But one brother goeth to law with another: and that under the unbelievers? Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why rather suffer ye not wrong? Why rather suffer ye not yourselves to be robbed? Nay, ye yourselves do wrong, and rob: and that the brethren.

that no man go too far and defraud his brother in bargaining, because the Lord is avenger of all such things: as we told you before time, and testified unto you.

Go to now, ye rich men. Weep, and howl on your wretchedness that shall come upon you. Your riches is corrupt, your garments are motheaten. Your gold and your silver are cankered, and the rust of them shall be a witness unto you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together in your last days.read more.

And why? I was grieved at the wicked, to see the ungodly in such prosperity. For they are in no peril of death, but stand fast like a palace. They come in no misfortune like other folk; neither are they plagued like other men.read more.
And this is the cause that they be so puffed up in pride, and overwhelmed with cruelty and unrighteousness. Their eyes swell with fatness, and they do even what they lust. They corrupt others, and speak blasphemies maliciously; proud and presumptuous are their words. They stretch forth their mouth unto the heaven, and their tongue goeth through the world. Therefore fall the people unto them, and there out suck they no small advantage. "Tush," say they, "How should God perceive it? Is there knowledge in the most high?"

But the ungodly, though he have received grace, yet learneth he not righteousness: but in that place where he is punished, he offendeth, and feareth not the glory of the LORD. LORD, when thine hand is lift up to strike, they see it not: but they shall see it, and be confounded, when thou shalt devour them with the wrath of the people, and with the fire of thine enemies.

But thou, O LORD my God, my holy one: thou art from the beginning, therefore shall we not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for punishment, and set them to reprove the mighty. Thine eyes are clean, thou mayest not see evil, thou cannot behold the thing that is wicked. Wherefore then doest thou look upon the ungodly, and holdest thy tongue, when the wicked devoureth the man that is better than himself?

See that thou rob not the poor because he is weak, and oppress not the simple in judgment;

"Thou shalt bear no false witness against thy neighbor.

Vex not a stranger, neither oppress him, for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. Ye shall trouble no widow nor fatherless child:

Thou shalt not hinder the right of the poor that are among you in their suit. "Keep thee far from a false matter, and the Innocent and righteous see thou slay not; for I will not justify the wicked. Thou shalt take no gifts, for gifts blind the seeing and pervert the words of the righteous.
