let us approach with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, sprinkled as to our hearts from a wicked conscience, and washed as to our body with pure water.

and ye shall seek me and find me, for ye shall search for me with all your heart,

Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

God is a spirit; and they who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth.

Then shall mine enemies return backward in the day when I call: this I know, for God is for me.

And this is the boldness which we have towards him, that if we ask him anything according to his will he hears us.

Let us approach therefore with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and find grace for seasonable help.

Elias was a man of like passions to us, and he prayed with prayer that it should not rain; and it did not rain upon the earth three years and six months;

And he would not for a time; but afterwards he said within himself, If even I fear not God and respect not man, at any rate because this widow annoys me I will avenge her, that she may not by perpetually coming completely harass me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge says. And shall not God at all avenge his elect, who cry to him day and night, and he bears long as to them?

Now she who is a widow indeed, and is left alone, has put her hope in God, and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.

Be careful about nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
