And coming to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, and I am perishing with hunger? I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee: I am no more worthy to be called thy son; make me as one of thy hired servants.

And hearing this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?

It is commonly reported, that there is fornication among you, and such fornication, as is not even named among the heathens, that one should have his father's wife. And are ye puffed up? Have ye not rather mourned, that he who hath done this deed, might be taken from among you?

For I am now ready to be offered up, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge will render me in that day, and not to me only, but to all them likewise that have loved his appearing.

And he shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall sorrow, or crying, or pain, be any more; because the former things are gone away.
