When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews weeping who came with her, he groaned deeply, and troubled himself, And said, Where have ye laid him? They say to him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept.
Verily, verily I say unto you, Ye will weep and lament; but the world will rejoice: ye will be sorrowful; but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
Now we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others who have no hope. For if we believe, that Jesus died and rose again, so will God bring with him those also that sleep in Christ.
And he shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall sorrow, or crying, or pain, be any more; because the former things are gone away.
For from much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not that ye might be grieved, but that ye might know the abundant love which I have toward you. And if any have caused grief, he hath grieved me but in part, that I may not overburden you all.
And are ye puffed up? Have ye not rather mourned, that he who hath done this deed, might be taken from among you?
And immediately the cock crew. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who said to him, Before cock-crowing thou wilt deny me thrice. And he went out and wept bitterly.
Now I rejoice, not that ye grieved, but that ye grieved to repentance; for ye grieved in a godly manner, so that ye received damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance unto salvation not to be repented of, whereas the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold, this very thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly manner, what diligence it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge? In all things ye have approved yourselves to be pure in this matter.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into heaviness.
But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
Behold he cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they who have pierced him: and all the tribes of the earth shall wail because of him.
And as he drew near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, saying, O that thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day the things that are for thy peace. But now they are hid from thine eyes.

Martha, the sister of the deceased, saith to him, Lord, by this time he stinketh; for he hath been buried four days. Jesus saith to her, Said I not to thee, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
