Ye shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.

If thou should lend money to my people, to the poor who is with thee, thou shalt not be to him as a usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury. If thou at all take thy neighbour's clothing as a pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him before the sun goes down; for only that is his covering, it is his clothing to cover his flesh, in which he must sleep; and it shall come to pass, when he cries unto me, that I will hear, for I am merciful.

And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not completely reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather the fallen grapes of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and the stranger. I AM your God.

He shall not give life to the wicked; but to the poor he shall give their right.

But when the priest shall buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house, they shall eat of his bread.

If thou should buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years; and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself; if he was married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master has given him a wife, and she has born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.read more.
And if the slave shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free. Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him forever.

And if thy brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold unto thee and serves thee six years, then in the seventh year thou shalt send him forth from thee free. And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not send him away empty. Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock and out of thy threshing floor and out of thy winepress; of that with which the LORD thy God has blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.read more.
And thou shalt remember that thou wast a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God ransomed thee; therefore, I command thee this thing to day. And it shall be, if he says unto thee, I will not go away from thee because he loves thee and thy house because he is well with thee, then thou shalt take an aul and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy slave for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise. It shall not seem hard unto thee when thou sendest him away free from thee, for he has served thee for half the cost of a hired servant for six years; and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.

And if a man should sell his daughter to be a maidslave, she shall not go out as the menslaves do. If she pleases not her master, who therefore took her not unto himself to wife, then it is permitted that she be ransomed; and he may not sell her unto a strange nation when he rejects her. And if he has betrothed her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.read more.
If he takes another wife, her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, he shall not diminish. And if he does not do these three things unto her, then shall she go out free without money.

And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not oppress him. But the stranger that dwells with you shall be as the natural of yourselves, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. I AM your God.

And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the sons of Israel and say unto them, When ye have passed the Jordan into the land of Canaan, then ye shall appoint yourselves cities to be cities of refuge for you that the manslayer who kills any person unawares may flee there.read more.
And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger that the manslayer not die until he stands before the congregation in judgment.

Then Moses separated three cities on this side of the Jordan toward the sunrising that the manslayer might flee there, who should kill his neighbour unawares and hated him not in times past and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:

And the LORD spoke unto Joshua, saying, Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, Appoint the cities of refuge, of which I spoke unto you by the hand of Moses, so that the manslayer who kills any person in error and without knowledge may flee there, and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.read more.
And he that flees unto one of these cities shall present himself at the entering of the gate of the city and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city; they shall receive him into the city among them and give him a place, that he may dwell among them. And when the avenger of blood pursues after him, they shall not deliver the manslayer up into his hand because he smote his neighbour by error, nor did he have enmity with him before. And he shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days; then shall the manslayer return, and come unto his own city and unto his own house unto the city from where he fled.

Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence, and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife does not have authority of her own body, but the husband; and likewise also the husband does not have authority of his own body, but the wife. Do not defraud one another, except it be with mutual consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer and come together again, that Satan not tempt you for your incontinency.

When any man takes a wife and after having gone in unto her, hates her and gives occasions of speech against her and brings up an evil name upon her and says, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a virgin, then shall the father of the damsel and her mother take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate.read more.
And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hates her; and, behold, he has given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a virgin; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city. Then the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him; and they shall fine him one hundred shekels of silver and give them unto the father of the damsel because he has brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel; and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days. But if this thing is true and the tokens of virginity are not found for the damsel, then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones, and she shall die because she has wrought folly in Israel, to fornicate in her father's house; so shalt thou put evil away from among you.

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husband, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as the Christ is head of the congregation , and it is he who gives saving health to the body. Therefore, as the congregation is subject unto the Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.read more.
Husbands, love your wives even as the Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself for her, that he might sanctify and cleanse her in the washing of water by the word, that he might present her glorious for himself, a congregation , not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So ought husbands to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it even as the Lord with his congregation : For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall be joined unto his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the congregation . Nevertheless, let each one of you do likewise, let each one so love his wife even as himself, and let the wife see that she reverences her husband.

Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be lengthened upon the land which the LORD thy God gives thee.

When a man has two wives, one beloved and the other hated, and they have born him sons, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son is of the one that was hated, then it shall be, when he makes his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not give the right of the firstborn unto the son of the beloved in preference over the son of the hated, who is indeed the firstborn; but he shall acknowledge the son of the hated as the firstborn by giving him a double portion of all that he has; for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

Now the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn, but because he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel; and he was not counted as the firstborn. For Judah prevailed above his brethren and was their prince, but the birthright was Joseph's:)

And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name,

He that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations ; To him that overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame and have sat down with my Father in his throne.

Blessed are those who do his commandments that their power and authority might be in the tree of life and they may enter in through the gates into the city.

What reward, then, shall I have? That preaching the gospel, I may make the gospel of the Christ without charge, that I abuse not my authority in the gospel.

Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are not ye my work in the Lord? If I am not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. My answer to those that examine me is this,read more.
Do we not have authority to eat and to drink? Do we not have authority to bring with us a sister, a wife, as also the other apostles and as the brothers of the Lord and Cephas? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that plows should plow in hope, and that he that threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope. If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap material things from you? If others are partakers of this authority over you, why not us? Nevertheless we have not used this authority, but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. Do ye not know that those who work with sacred things live of the things of the sanctuary? and those who serve at the altar partake of the altar? Even so the Lord has ordained that those who preach the gospel should live of the gospel. But I have used none of these things, neither have I written these things that it should be so done unto me; for it were better for me to die than that anyone should make this my glory void. For though I preach the gospel, I have no reason to glory, for it is an obligation laid upon me; for woe is me, if I do not preach the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, the stewardship of the gospel is committed unto me.

Let the elders that govern well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in the word and doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treads out the grain. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

Do not contaminate thy daughter, causing her to commit fornication, lest the land be prostituted, and the land become full of wickedness.

At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release. One witness shall not be valid against a man for any iniquity or for any sin, in any sin which he should commit. At the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

The land shall not be sold for ever, for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me. Therefore, in all the land of your possession, ye shall grant a redemption for the land. If thy brother becomes poor and has sold away some of his possession, his redeemer shall come, his closest kinsman, and shall redeem that which his brother sold.read more.
And when the man has no redeemer and is able to stretch forth his hand and find enough for his redemption, then he shall count the years from the sale thereof and pay that which remains unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession. But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country; they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee. Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites and the houses of the cities of their possession, the Levites may redeem at any time. And if a man makes a purchase from the Levites, then the house that was sold and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the sons of Israel. But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold, for it is their perpetual possession. Do not rejoice against me, O my enemy; for if I have fallen, I shall arise; if I sit in darkness, the LORD is my light. I will bear the indignation of the LORD because I have sinned against him, until he has judged my cause and executed my judgment; he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. Then she that is my enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her who said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? my eyes shall behold her: now she shall be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

he executes the rights of the fatherless and the widow and also loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing.

A father of the fatherless and a defender of the widows is God in his holy habitation.

Do not remove the old landmark, and do not enter into the inheritance of the fatherless: For their redeemer is mighty; he shall judge their cause against thee.

Woe unto those that establish unrighteous laws and that wilfully prescribe tyranny to turn aside the poor from right judgment and to take away the right from the afflicted of my people that widows may be their prey and that they may rob the fatherless! And what will ye do in the day of visitation and in the desolation which shall come from far? To whom will ye flee for help and where will ye leave your glory?read more.
They shall bow down among the prisoners, and they shall fall among the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

For among my people were found wicked men: they lay in wait as he that sets snares; they set a trap of perdition to catch men. As a cage full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit; thus they became great and rich. They are become fat; they shine; yea, they overpass in deeds of wickedness; they did not judge the cause, the cause of the fatherless; with all this they made themselves prosperous; and they did not judge the cause of the poor.read more.
Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

Thus hath the LORD said: For three transgressions of Israel and for the fourth, I will not convert her because they sold the righteous for silver and the poor for a pair of shoes, desiring that there be dust of the earth upon the head of the poor, and to twist the way of the humble: and the man and his father have gone in unto the same maid, profaning my holy name: and they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by any altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son. He shall judge thy people with righteousness and thy poor with judgment. The mountains shall bring peace to the people and the little hills by righteousness.read more.

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor is beer for princes lest they drink and forget the law and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. Give beer unto him that is ready to perish and wine unto those that have heavy hearts.read more.
They drink and forget their need and remember their misery no more. Open thy mouth for those who cannot speak in the judgment of all the sons of death. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and destitute.

but only the LORD your God who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

Then Jesus said unto him, Get thee hence, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God and serve him and shalt swear by his name.

God is a Spirit and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

And now, Israel, what does the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways and to love him and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, to keep the commandments of the LORD and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

Today the LORD thy God has commanded thee to comply with these statutes and rights; take care, therefore, to keep and do them with all thine heart and with all thy soul. Thou hast lifted up the LORD today to be thy God and to walk in his ways and to keep his statutes and his commandments and his rights and to hearken unto his voice. And the LORD has lifted thee up this day to be his unique people, as he has promised thee, and that thou should keep all his commandments,

for I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his rights, that thou may live and be multiplied; and may the LORD thy God bless thee in the land into which thou dost enter to inherit it.
