13 Bible Verses about Obedience, To Human Authorities

Let every soul be in subjection to the authorities that are over him; for there is no authority, except from God; and the authorities that are have been appointed by God. So that he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those having resisted shall receive to themselves condemnation; for rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. for he is God's minister to you for good. But, if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger for wrath to him that does evil. Wherefore, there is necessity that ye submit yourselves, not only because of the wrath, but also because of conscience. For, on this account, ye pay tribute also; for they are God's ministers, attending continually to this very thing. Render to all their dues; tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

I exhort, therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, be made for all men; for kings, and all who are in high position, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

Remind them to submit to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work;

Submit yourself to every human ordinance, for the Lord's sake; whether to a king as supreme; or to governors, as sent through him for the punishment of evil-doers, and for praise to those who do well;

And Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things of Caesar, and to God the things of God." And they wondered exceedingly at Him.

Obey those who are your leaders, and submit to them; for they watch in behalf of your souls, as those who are to give an account; that they may do this with joy, and not with sighing; for this would be unprofitable for you.

Likewise, ye younger, be subject to the elder; yea, all of you gird on the lowly mind to serve one another; because "God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the lowly."
