Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the holy Spirit hath appointed you bishops, to feed the church of God, which He purchased with his own blood.

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, sober, prudent, grave,

and let not those who have believing masters, despise them, because they are brethren; but serve them more readily, because they are faithful and beloved by God, partakers of his grace.

These things declare and teach.

with meekness instructing those of different sentiments, not knowing but God may give them repentance to the acknowledgement of the truth;

Be ruled by those that are your guides, and submit to them: for they watch for your souls; (as those that must give an account) that they may do it with joy and not with uneasiness: for this were unprofitable for you.

For to this end was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but might live according to God in the spirit.

Now David having served his own generation according to the will of God, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: but He whom God raised, did not see corruption. Be it known therefore unto you, brethren, that through Him is preached unto you the remission of sins: and by Him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Beware therefore, least what is spoken in the prophets come upon you, "Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and vanish; for I do a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though any one should declare it unto you." As they went out of the synagogue of the Jews, the Gentiles desired that these words might be spoken to them on the following sabbath. And when the synagogue was broken up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who addressing themselves to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

And the portion of scripture, which he was reading, was this, "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before it's shearer is dumb, so He opened not his mouth: in his humiliation his judgement was taken away, and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken away from the earth." And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom doth the prophet say this? of himself, or of some other person? Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this scripture, preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water: and the eunuch said, See here is water, what hindereth me from being baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he ordered the chariot to stop: and they both went down to the water, Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

And the people unanimously attended to the things which were spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he wrought: for impure spirits crying with a loud voice came out of many that were possessed by them; and many paralytic and lame persons were cured. read more.
And there was great joy in that city. But there was before in the city a man named Simon practising magic and bewitching the people of Samaria, giving out that he was some great person. And with many other words did he press and exhort them, saying, Save yourselves from this perverse generation. They therefore that received his word with readiness were baptized: and in that same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but since ye reject it, and judge not yourselves worthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles:

opening them and shewing, that the Messiah was to suffer and rise again from the dead: and that this is the Christ even, Jesus, whom, said he, I preach unto you.
