But younger widows refuse; for when they become wanton against Christ, they desire to marry;

But I say to you, that whoever looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

For this cause God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women indulged in unnatural lust,

For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication; that every one of you should know how to procure for himself his own vessel in purity and honor,

For sufficient is the time past to have wrought the will of the gentiles, when ye walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, carousings, and abominable idolatries;

Wherefore God also gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to debase their bodies with one another;

For speaking great swelling words of vanity, they allure in the lusts of the flesh, by dissolute ways, such as were in some measure escaping from those who live in error;

Pray for us; for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, desiring in all things to conduct ourselves well;

But sin, seizing the opportunity, wrought in me by means of the commandment all manner of sinful desire; for without the Law sin is dead.

But if ye had known what this meaneth, "I desire mercy and not sacrifice," ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

But they who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all evils; which some coveting have strayed away from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many pangs.

Let no one when he is tempted, say, I am tempted by God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he tempteth no one. But each one is tempted when by his own lust he is led away and enticed; then lust, having conceived, bringeth forth sin, and sin, when completed, bringeth forth death.

But go ye and learn what this meaneth: "I desire mercy, and not sacrifice." For I came not to call righteous men, but sinners.

knowing this first, that there will come in the last days open scoffers following their own lusts,

But if any one of you is wanting in wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it will be given him.

among whom even we all had our way of life in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, even as others;

Strive to possess love; and desire earnestly the spiritual gifts, but especially that of prophesying. For he that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue speaketh not to men, but to God; for no one heareth; but in the Spirit he speaketh mysteries; but he that prophesieth speaketh to men edification, and exhortation, and comfort.read more.
He that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. I would that ye all spoke with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied; for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, unless he interpret, that the church may receive edification.

but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise dominion. Presumptuous, selfwilled, they are not afraid to rail at dignities;

Now ye are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God appointed some in the church to be, in the first place, apostles, in the second place, prophets, in the third place, teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, those of helping and of governing, divers kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?read more.
Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But desire earnestly the greater gifts. And furthermore I show you by far the most excellent way.

Jesus saith to her, Believe me, woman, the hour is coming, when ye shall neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship that which ye know not; we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews. Wherefore, when he cometh into the world, he saith: "Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body didst thou prepare for me; in whole burntofferings and sacrifices for sin thou hadst no pleasure. Saying above, "Sacrifices and offerings, and whole burntofferings and sacrifices for sin thou wouldest not, and hadst no pleasure in them,"such as are offered in conformity to the Law, then hath he said, "Lo, I have come to do thy will." He setteth aside the first, that he may establish the second. And in this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest indeed standeth performing daily service, and offering again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but he, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins, sat down for ever on the right hand of God, thenceforth waiting until his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever those who are sanctified.

True is the saying: If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

And they who belong to Christ Jesus crucified the flesh with the passions and lusts.

For they who are according to the flesh have their mind on the things of the flesh; but they who are according to the Spirit, on the things of the Spirit. For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit life and peace. Because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it doth not submit itself to the Law of God, neither indeed can it.read more.

And this, since we know the time, that it is already high time for us to awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we became believers. The night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us then throw off the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light. Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in lewdness and wantonness, not in strife and envy;read more.
but clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and think not about satisfying the lusts of the flesh.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

that as to your former way of life ye should put off the old man, who perisheth according to the lusts of deceit, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that ye put on the new man, who was created according to God in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Make dead therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

But flee youthful lusts, and follow righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

For I know that there dwelleth not in me, that is, in my flesh, any good thing; for to desire is present with me, but not to perform that which is good.

Whence are wars and whence are fightings among you? Are they not hence, from your lusts that war in your members?
