'Asking' in the Bible
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king (Herod the Great), magi (wise men) from the east came to Jerusalem, asking,
And having been warned [by God] in a dream not to go back to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.
to him who is asking of thee be giving, and him who is willing to borrow from thee thou mayest not turn away.
be ye not therefore like to them, for your Father doth know those things that ye have need of before your asking him;
Do not be over-anxious, therefore, asking 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
For all these are questions that Gentiles are always asking; but your Heavenly Father knows that you need these things--all of them.
“Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
Because everyone who keeps asking will receive, and the person who keeps searching will find, and the person who keeps knocking will have the door opened.
So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who keep on asking him!
When he entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him asking for help:
While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and brothers came and stood outside, asking to speak to him.
Someone told him, "Look! Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, asking to speak to you."
And he did not answer her a word; and his disciples having come to him, were asking him, saying -- 'Let her away, because she crieth after us;'
And Jesus, having come to the parts of Caesarea Philippi, was asking his disciples, saying, 'Who do men say me to be -- the Son of Man?'
And Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”
And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
Then came near to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, bowing and asking something from him,
But Jesus answered, “You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?”“We are able,” they said to Him.
When he came into Jerusalem, the whole city was trembling with excitement. The people were asking, "Who is this?"
One of them, an expert in the Law, tested him by asking,
