'Expect' in the Bible

And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man's face, expect our youngest brother be with us.

And Israel said to Joseph, "I did not expect to see your face and behold, God has also shown me your offspring."

So Samson's bride cried on his shoulder and said, "You must hate me; you do not love me! You told the young men a riddle, but you have not told me the solution." He said to her, "Look, I have not even told my father or mother. Do you really expect me to tell you?"

He took a pair of oxen and cut them up. When You did awesome worksthat we did not expect,You came down,and the mountains quaked at Your presence.

They see delusion and their omens are a lie. They say, "the Lord declares," though the Lord has not sent them; yet they expect their word to be confirmed.

For Israel is stubborn,Like a stubborn heifer.Can the Lord now pasture themLike a lamb in a large field?

"And when praying, do not use needless repetitions as the Gentiles do, for they expect to be listened to because of their multitude of words.

and asked Him, “Are You the One who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners to be repaid in full.
