'Dead' in the Bible
for everything made visible is light. Therefore it says, Wake up, sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.
if somehow I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
and he himself is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself may become first in everything,
having been buried with him in baptism, in which also you were raised together with [him] through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
And {although you were dead} in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
and to await his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus, the one who delivers us from the coming wrath.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
But the one who lives for sensual pleasure is dead [even though she] lives.
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David according to my gospel,
I solemnly charge [you] before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom,
And with whom was he angry [for] forty years? [Was it] not with those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness?
Therefore, leaving behind the elementary message about Christ, let us move on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and faith in God,
teaching about baptisms and laying on of hands, and resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.
how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works to serve [the] living God?
For a will [is] in force concerning those who are dead, since [it is] never in force when the one who made the will is alive.
By faith Abel offered to God a greater sacrifice than Cain, by which he was approved that he was righteous, [because] God approved [him] for his gifts, and through it he still speaks, [although he] is dead.

Women received back their dead by resurrection. But others were tortured, not accepting release, in order that they might gain a better resurrection.
Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
Thus also faith, if it does not have works, is dead by itself.
For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
who through him [are] believing in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
They will give an account to the one who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
Because for this reason also the gospel was preached to those who are dead, so that they were judged {by human standards} in the flesh, but they may live in the spirit {by God's standards}.
These are the ones feasting together without reverence, hidden reefs at your love feasts, caring for themselves, waterless clouds carried away by winds, late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, uprooted,
and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead person, and he placed his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last,
and the one who lives, and I was dead, and behold, I am living {forever and ever}, and I hold the keys of death and of Hades.
"And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: "This is what the first and the last says, who was dead and came to life:
"And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: "This is what the one who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars says: 'I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, and you are dead.
And their dead bodies [will lie] in the street of the great city which is called symbolically Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.
And [those] from peoples and tribes and languages and nations will see their dead bodies three and a half days, and they will not allow their dead bodies to be placed in a tomb.
And the nations were angry, and your wrath has come, and the time for the dead to be judged, and to give their reward to your slaves the prophets and to the saints and to the ones who fear your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth."
And I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write: 'Blessed [are] the dead who die in the Lord from now on!'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "in order that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow after them."
And the second poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood, like [that] of a dead person, and every living thing [that was] in the sea died.
(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed.) This [is] the first resurrection.
And I saw the dead--the great and the small--standing before the throne, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the [book] of life, and the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their deeds.
And the sea gave up the dead [who were] in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead [who were] in them, and each one was judged according to their deeds.
