'Imitate' in the Bible
You must not bow down to their gods or worship them. Do not imitate their practices. Instead, demolish them and smash their sacred pillars to pieces.
"When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not imitate the detestable customs of those nations.
They rejected His statutes and His covenant He had made with their ancestors and the warnings He had given them. They pursued worthless idols and became worthless themselves, following the surrounding nations the Lord had commanded them not to imitate.
Do not envy a violent man, and do not choose to imitate any of his ways;
Don't be led astray by her lifestyle, and don't imitate her behavior.
So I will put an end to indecency in the land, and all the women will be admonished not to imitate your indecent behavior.
Do not, however, imitate them; for your Father knows what things you need before ever you ask Him.

Remember your leaders who have spoken God's word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith.
not lording it over your Churches but proving yourselves patterns for the flock to imitate.
