'Lay' in the Bible
Jesus told him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”
As He was telling them these things, suddenly one of the leaders came and knelt down before Him, saying, “My daughter is near death, but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.”
He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.
and kept begging Him, “My little daughter is at death’s door. Come and lay Your hands on her so she can get well and live.”
They brought to Him a deaf man who also had a speech difficulty, and begged Jesus to lay His hand on him.
they will pick up snakes; if they should drink anything deadly, it will never harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.”

as the Father knows Me, and I know the Father. I lay down My life for the sheep.
No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down on My own. I have the right to lay it down, and I have the right to take it up again. I have received this command from My Father.”
“Lord,” Peter asked, “why can’t I follow You now? I will lay down my life for You!”
Jesus replied, “Will you lay down your life for Me? I assure you: A rooster will not crow until you have denied Me three times.
No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends.
As a result, they would carry the sick out into the streets and lay them on cots and mats so that when Peter came by, at least his shadow might fall on some of them.
saying, “Give me this power too, so that anyone I lay hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”
For I am with you, and no one will lay a hand on you to hurt you, because I have many people in this city.”
For no one can lay any other foundation than what has been laid down. That foundation is Jesus Christ.
Don’t be too quick to appoint anyone as an elder, and don’t share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us,
keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.
For it is contained in Scripture:Look! I lay a stone in Zion,a chosen and honored cornerstone,and the one who believes in Himwill never be put to shame!
knowing that I will soon lay aside my tent, as our Lord Jesus Christ has also shown me.
This is how we have come to know love: He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers.
