'Gift' in the Bible
"So if you are presenting your gift at the altar and remember there that your brother has something against you,
leave your gift there before the altar and first go and be reconciled to your brother. Then come and offer your gift.
Again you say, "Whoever swears an oath by the altar is excused, but whoever swears by the gift that is on it must keep his oath.'
You blind men! Which is more important, the gift or the altar that makes the gift holy?
We have all received one gracious gift after another from his abundance,
Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, "Please give me a drink,' you would have been the one to ask him, and he would have given you living water."
Peter answered them, "Every one of you must repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the Holy Spirit as a gift.
But Peter told him, "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could obtain God's free gift with money!
Then the circumcised believers who had come with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the gentiles, too,
Now if God gave them the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, who was I to try to stop God?"
For I am longing to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong,
Now to someone who works, wages are not considered a gift but an obligation.
But God's free gift is not like Adam's offense. For if many people died as the result of one man's offense, how much more have God's grace and the free gift given through the kindness of one man, Jesus the Messiah, been showered on many people!
Nor can the free gift be compared to what came through the man who sinned. For the sentence that followed one man's offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift brought justification, even after many offenses.
For if, through one man, death ruled because of that man's offense, how much more will those who receive such overflowing grace and the gift of righteousness rule in life because of one man, Jesus the Messiah!
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in union with the Messiah Jesus our Lord.
We have different gifts based on the grace that was given to us. So if your gift is prophecy, use your gift in proportion to your faith.
If your gift is serving, devote yourself to serving others. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching others.
Therefore, you don't lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus the Messiah to be revealed.
I would like everyone to be unmarried, like I am. However, each person has a special gift from God, one this and another that.
Not all have the gift of healing, do they? Not all speak in foreign languages, do they? Not all interpret, do they?
If I have the gift of prophecy and can understand all secrets and every form of knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains but have no love, I am nothing.
When I arrive, I will send letters along with the men you approve to take your gift to Jerusalem.
For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you do not have.
Therefore, I thought it necessary to urge these brothers to visit you ahead of me, to make arrangements in advance for this gift you promised, and to have it ready as something given generously and not forced.
For by such grace you have been saved through faith. This does not come from you; it is the gift of God
I have become a servant of this gospel according to the gift of God's grace that was given me by the working of his power.
Now to each one of us grace has been given proportionate to the measure of the Messiah's gift.
It is not that I am looking for a gift. No, I want to see that you receive the fruit that increases to your benefit.
Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy when the elders laid their hands on you.
For this reason, I am reminding you to fan into flames the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands.
For it is impossible to keep on restoring to repentance time and again people who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have become partners with the Holy Spirit,
Every generous act of giving and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father who made the heavenly lights, in whom there is no inconsistency or shifting shadow.
In a similar way, you husbands must live with your wives in an understanding manner, as with a most delicate partner. Honor them as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing may interfere with your prayers.
As good servant managers of God's grace in its various forms, serve one another with the gift each of you has received.
The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" Let everyone who hears this say, "Come!" Let everyone who is thirsty come! Let anyone who wants the water of life take it as a gift!
