In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness of Judea proclaiming,


And large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan River.

Now on one of those days, while he was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting nearby (who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem), and the power of the Lord was with him to heal.

When he heard that Jesus had come back from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and begged him to come down and heal his son, who was about to die.

Jesus did this as his second miraculous sign when he returned from Judea to Galilee.


Now when Jesus finished these sayings, he left Galilee and went to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan River.

But they persisted in saying, "He incites the people by teaching throughout all Judea. It started in Galilee and ended up here!"

Then Jesus left that place and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan River. Again crowds gathered to him, and again, as was his custom, he taught them.


In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness of Judea proclaiming,

He went into all the region around the Jordan River, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
