19 Bible Verses about Apostles, During Jesus Earthly Ministry

Then he appointed twelve, that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach,

After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves.

The apostles gathered to Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught. And he said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a lonely place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. So they went away in the boat to a lonely place by themselves.

And when the apostles returned, they told him what they had done. Then he took them with him and withdrew apart to a city called Bethsaida.

And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" He called to him a little child, and put him in the midst of them, and he said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.read more.
Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

And when he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables. And he said to them, "To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but to those outside everything is in parables; so that 'seeing they may see but not perceive, and hearing may hear but not understand; lest they should turn again, and be forgiven.'"

until the day when he was taken up to heaven, after he had given orders through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

Then he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. And he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. And he said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics.read more.
Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them." So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them: "Do not go among the Gentiles, or enter any town of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And preach as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'read more.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts, nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the worker is worthy of his food.

And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staffno bag, no bread, no money in their belts but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics.read more.
And he said to them, "Where you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place. And if any place will not receive you and they refuse to hear you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet for a testimony against them." So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.

Then he appointed twelve, that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach, and to have authority to cast out the demons:

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth."

We are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree;

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

And he said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

And he said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.read more.
And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city, until you are clothed with power from on high."

As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.

Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I also send you."
