And Adam knew Eve his wife. And she conceived and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from Jehovah.

And he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.

And when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister. And she said to Jacob, Give me sons, or else I will die.

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the boys, and said, Who are these with you? And he said, The boys with whom God has favored your servant.

And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, so that he may send away your other brother and Benjamin. If I am bereaved, I am bereaved.

He causes the barren to dwell in the house as a joyful mother of sons. Praise Jehovah!

Lo, children are the inheritance of Jehovah; the fruit of the womb is a reward.

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine by the sides of your house; your sons shall be like olive plants around your table.

Surely I have behaved and have quieted my soul, as one weaned by its mother; my soul on me is like one weaned.

My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother;

for whom Jehovah loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him chastens him early.

A fool despises his father's instruction, but he who listens to correction is wise.

Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

The rod and rebuke give wisdom, but a boy sent off causes shame to his mother.

For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and, My mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

Also the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the cub lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. For He said, Surely they are My people, sons that will not lie; so He was their Savior. In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them; in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them, and carried them all the days of old. read more. And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.

And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. And the children shall rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death.

For I have come to set a man against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a man's foes shall be those of his own household. read more. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank You, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the sophisticated and cunning, and revealed them to babes.

and said, Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of Heaven.

So the Lord has dealt with me in the days in which He looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

and am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.

The woman has grief when she bears, because her hour has come. But when she brings forth the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, because of the joy that a man is born into the world.
