This is the book of the generations of Jesus Christ: the son of David, the son also of Abraham.

Jesse begat David the king: David the king begat Solomon of her that was the wife of Uriah:

All the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; And from David unto the captivity of Babylon are fourteen generations; And from the captivity of Babylon unto Christ are also fourteen generations.

While he thus thought, Behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: For that which is conceived in her is of the holy ghost.

And as Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him crying, and saying, "O thou son of David, have mercy on us."

He said unto them, "Have ye not read what David did, when he was a hungered, and they also which were with him?

And all the people were amazed, and said, "Is not this the son of David?"

And behold, a woman which was a Canaanite came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, "Have mercy on me Lord, thou son of David, my daughter is piteously vexed with a devil."

And behold, two blind men sitting by the wayside, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried, saying, "Master, the son of David have mercy on us."

And the people rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: But they cried the more, saying, "Have mercy on us, Master, which art the son of David."

Moreover, the people that went before, and they also that came after, cried, saying, "Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest."

When the chief priests and scribes saw the marvels that he did; and the children crying in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the son of David"; they disdained,

saying, "What think ye of Christ? Whose son is he?" They said unto him, "The son of David."

He said unto them, "How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

If David call him Lord: How is he then his son?"
