But a certain one of those who were near took out his sword, and gave the servant of the high priest a blow, cutting off his ear.

For Herod himself had sent men out to take John and put him in prison, because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, whom he had taken for himself.

And he rose up straightway, and, having taken up his couch, went out before them all, so that all were amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it thus.

And those that were feeding them fled and reported it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had taken place.

Consider this similitude taken from a fig-tree: when its branch is yet tender, and pushes out its leaves, you know that summer is near:

And they having taken him, killed, and cast out of the vineyard.

Jesus told the crowd to sit down upon the ground. Then he took the seven loaves, and, after saying the thanksgiving, broke them, and gave them to his disciples to serve out; and they served them out to the crowd.

And when they had made sport of him, they took the purple robe off him and put his clothing on him. And they took him out to put him to death on the cross.
