that you were at that time without Christ, being aliens from the community of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope, and having no God in the world:

For though there are those which are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, (as there are many gods, and many lords,)

If he called them gods, to whom the word of God was committed, (and the scripture can not be made void,)

Let no one say, when he is tempted, My temptation is from God; for God can not be tempted by evils, and he himself tempts no man.
