And because wickedness will increase, the love of most will grow cold. But he who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; such things must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginning of birth pains. But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.

Do you not know that those who work in the temple get their food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar? In the same way, the Lord commanded that those who proclaim the gospel should get their living from the gospel.

And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. Of him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the cleverness of the clever I will frustrate." Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Now when I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and when a door was opened for me in the Lord, I still had no rest in my mind, because I did not find my brother Titus there. The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it. But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one dot of the law to fail.

But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Whoever speaks is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belongs the glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
