I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. and now, O father, glorify me in heaven, with the glory which I had before the creation of the world. He is so much superiour to the angels, as the authority he possesses is more excellent than theirs. for to which of the angels did he ever say, " thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee? and again, I will be his father, and he shall be my son? and when he re-introduces the first-begotten into the world, he saith, " and let all the angels of God worship him."

for tho' he was the son of God, yet he found by his own sufferings what it was to obey, and by a perfect obedience he procured eternal salvation for all that obey him;
by this was the love of God displayed towards us, in that God sent his only begotten son into the world, that we might live thro' him.
