Jehovah said to me: A conspiracy has been found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

When day arrived some of the Jews came together and united with an oath saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.
Jehovah revealed their plot to me so that I would understand. He showed me what they were doing.

There is a conspiracy of her prophets in her midst like a roaring lion tearing the prey. They have devoured lives. They have taken treasure and precious things. They have made many widows in the midst of her.
Even though they scheme and devise evil against you, they will not succeed.
Even your relatives, members of your own family, have betrayed you. They join in the attacks against you. Do not trust them, even though they speak friendly words.
Absalom was offering sacrifices. He sent for Ahithophel, David's adviser, to come from his home in Giloh. Meanwhile, the conspiracy grew stronger. The number of people siding with Absalom kept getting larger.
They conspire with cunning against your people. They plot against your cherished ones.
Even if you suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. Do not fear! Do not be troubled (distressed) (intimidated)!
You hide them in the secret place of your presence from those who scheme against them. You keep them in a secret shelter, safe from quarrelsome tongues.
Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying: Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

I was like an unquestioning lamb brought to the slaughter. I did not know that they were plotting against me. They were saying: Let us destroy the tree with its fruit. Let us cut Jeremiah off from this world of the living so that we will not be reminded of him anymore.

Moses said: This is how you will know that Jehovah sent me to do all these things and that it wasn't my idea: If these men die a natural death like all other people Jehovah has not sent me. But if Jehovah does something totally new, if the ground opens up, swallows them and everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive to their graves; then you will know that these men have treated Jehovah with contempt. When he finished speaking, the ground under them split, and the earth opened up to swallow them, their families, the followers of Korah, and all their property. They went down alive to their graves with everything that belonged to them. The ground covered them. They disappeared from the assembly. All the Israelites around them ran away when they heard their screams. They thought the ground would swallow them, also. He gave the officers the spears and shields that had belonged to King David and had been kept in the Temple. He stationed the men with drawn swords all around the front of the Temple, to protect the king. Then Jehoiada led Joash out and placed the crown on his head. He gave him a copy of the laws governing kingship. Then Jehoash was anointed and proclaimed king. The people clapped their hands and shouted: Long live the king! Queen Athaliah heard the noise being made by the guards and the people. She hurried to the Temple, where the crowd had gathered. There she saw the new king standing by the column at the entrance of the Temple, as was the custom. The officers and the trumpeters surrounded him, and the people were all shouting joyfully and blowing trumpets. Athaliah tore her clothes in distress and shouted: Treason! Treason! Jehoiada the priest did not want Athaliah killed in the Temple area. He ordered the army officers: Take her out between the rows of guards, and kill anyone who tries to rescue her. They seized her and took her to the palace. There at the Horse Gate they killed her.

Then Abner went directly to David in Hebron. He told him everything Israel and the entire tribe of Benjamin had approved. Twenty men accompanied Abner to see David at Hebron. Tell me how someone could tie you up. He told her: If you weave my seven locks of hair into a loom, and make it tight with a peg, I will be weak. Delilah lulled him to sleep. She took his seven locks of hair and wove them into the loom. She made it tight with a peg and shouted: Samson! The Philistines are coming! He woke up and pulled his hair loose from the loom. How can you say you love me, she asked: when you do not mean it? You have made a fool of me three times. You still have not told me what makes you strong. She kept asking him, day after day. He got sick and tired of her nagging him. So finally he told her the truth: My hair has never been cut, he said: I have been dedicated to God as a Nazirite from the time I was born. I would lose my strength if my hair were cut. When Delilah realized that he told her the truth, she sent a message to the Philistine kings: Come back one more time. He told me the truth. They came and brought the money with them. Delilah lulled Samson to sleep in her lap and called a man, who cut off Samson's seven locks of hair. Then she tormented him, for he had lost his strength. She shouted: Samson! The Philistines are coming! He woke up and thought: I will get loose and go free, as always. He did not know that Jehovah had left him. They are not going to let you enter into the city. You and your men should move by night and hide in the fields. Get up early in the morning at sunrise and attack the city. When he and the people who are with him come out against you do what you can against them. Abimelech and all his troops, in four companies, took up concealed positions at night against Shechem. Abimelech and his men saw Gaal come out and stand at the city gate. So they got up from their hiding places. Gaal saw them and said to Zebul: There are men coming down from the mountaintops! Zebul answered: They are not men. They are only shadows on the mountains. Gaal responded: Do you see? There are men coming down from the top of the mountain. Some are coming along the road from the big tree of Meonenim (big tree of magic)! Zebul said to him: Where is all your big talk now? You asked why we should serve this man Abimelech. These are the men you made fun of. You go fight them! Gaal led the men of Shechem out to fight Abimelech. Abimelech chased Gaal, and Gaal ran away. Many were wounded at the city gate. Abimelech lived in Arumah. Zebul drove Gaal and his brothers out of Shechem. They could no longer live there.

Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, zither, pipes, and all kinds of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, good! But if you do not worship it you will be thrown into the midst of a blazing furnace that same hour. What god will be able to rescue you from my hand? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king: O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If it is so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the blazing furnace. He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. If not you should know O king that we will not serve your gods. They approached the king about his decree: Did you sign a decree stating that every man that shall make petition to any god or man within thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be thrown into the den of lions? The king answered: The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which may not be altered. Then they said: Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, does not show you respect, O king, nor the decree that you signed. He offers his prayer three times a day. Then the king, when he heard these words, was very displeased with himself. He was determined that Daniel not be delivered to him; and he labored all day to rescue him.
