Surely your subversion shall be as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He did not make me? or shall the vessel say of him that made it, He did not understand?

Woe unto him that strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashions it, What doth thou make; thy work has no form?

Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest thou, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

Why dost thou stand afar off, O LORD? Why dost thou hide thyself in times of trouble?

How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me and from the words of my cry? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

I will say unto God, My rock, why hast thou forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? It is as death in my bones when my enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?

Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise, do not cast us off for ever. Why dost thou hide thy face and forget our affliction and our oppression?

O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever? Why dost thou withdraw thy hand, even thy right hand? Why dost thou hide it in thy bosom.

O LORD God of the hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people? Thou dost feed them with the bread of tears and give them tears to drink in great measure. Thou dost make us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies laugh at us among themselves.

Surely thou, O God, who had cast us off and did not, O God, go forth with our hosts. Give us help from trouble; for the salvation of man is deception.
