The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. A man found the treasure and hid it again in the field. He is so filled with joy he sells everything he owns and buys the field.

They strengthened the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith. They said, We must enter the kingdom of God through much tribulation.

Enter through the narrow gate, since the gate to destruction is wide and the road that leads to destruction is wide and many enter through it. Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way to life. Only a few put forth the effort. Yes, only a few people enter the narrow gate.

Now the works of the flesh (sinful human nature) are apparent. Watch therefore, for you do not know the day or the hour.

Gird your loins (strengthen yourselves) and light your lamps. Be like men looking for their master to return. He will knock when he returns from the marriage feast, and it will immediately be opened to him. Those servants are blessed, for the master will find them alert when he comes. Even if he comes in the second watch or the third and he finds the same his servants are blessed. Know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming he would have watched. He would not have allowed his house to be broken into. You be ready! Give thanks to the Father, who made us partakers of the inheritance of the holy ones in the light. He rescued us from the power of darkness, and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love (the Son he dearly loves).

Listen, my dearly beloved brothers! Did God choose poor people in the world to be rich in faith and to receive the kingdom he promised to those who love him?

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you.

Jesus said: Let the little ones (children) come to me. Do not keep them away: for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.

But when Jesus saw it he was moved with indignation. He said: Allow the little children to come to me! Do not turn them away for they belong to the kingdom of God.

Jesus heard this. He said to them: Those who are well have no need of a medical man but those who are ill do. I have come to care for sinners not the upright.

When he heard it, he said: People who are well do not have need of a physician. The sick do. You should learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice'; for I came, not to call the righteous, but sinners.

Jesus answered them: Those who have good health do not need a physician. The sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.

Which of the two pleased his father? They replied: The first. Jesus said to them: I tell you, tax collectors and prostitutes will go into the kingdom of God before you.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they separate you from their company, and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy. For your reward is great in heaven. Your fathers treated the prophets the same way.

I tell you, many will come from the east and the west, to sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven:

For this reason I tell you, The kingdom of God will be taken away from you. It will be given to a nation producing fruit.

He said to his servants, 'The feast is ready, but the guests were not worthy. Go then, to the main roads, and invite all those whom you see to come to the feast.' They went to the roads and brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike. And the banquet room was filled with guests.
