But of a truth I say to you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there came a great famine upon all the land; and to no one of them was Elijah sent, except to Zarephath in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. "And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and no one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian." And all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, on hearing these things; and, rising up, they cast Him forth out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city had been built, to throw Him down headlong; but He, passing through their midst, was going His way. And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee; and He was teaching them on the sabbath; and they were astonished at His teaching, because His word was with authority. And in the synagogue there was a man having a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice,

But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to high-councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you;

"But take heed to yourselves; for they will deliver you up to the councils; and in synagogues ye will be beaten; and before governors and kings ye will stand for My sake, for a testimony to them.
