And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

Now [when] Jesus heard [this], he was astonished, and said to those who were following [him], "Truly I say to you, I have found such great faith with no one in Israel.

So they are astonished when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you.
