For this is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says:Daughter Babylon is like a threshing floorat the time it is trampled.In just a little while her harvest time will come.

ד DaletHe has bent His bow like an enemy;His right hand is positioned like an adversary.He has killed everyone who was loved,pouring out His wrath like fireon the tent of Daughter Zion.

ה HeThe Lord is like an enemy;He has swallowed up Israel.He swallowed up all its palacesand destroyed its fortified cities.He has multiplied mourning and lamentationwithin Daughter Judah.

ח KhetThe Lord determined to destroythe wall of Daughter Zion.He stretched out a measuring lineand did not restrain Himself from destroying.He made the ramparts and walls grieve;together they waste away.

י YodThe elders of Daughter Zionsit on the ground in silence.They have thrown dust on their headsand put on sackcloth.The young women of Jerusalemhave bowed their heads to the ground.

מ MemWhat can I say on your behalf?What can I compare you to, Daughter Jerusalem?What can I liken you to,so that I may console you, Virgin Daughter Zion?For your ruin is as vast as the sea.Who can heal you?

Rise and thresh, Daughter Zion,for I will make your horns ironand your hooves bronze,so you can crush many peoples.Then you will set apart their plunderto the Lord for destruction,their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

Now, daughter who is under attack,you slash yourself in grief;a siege is set against us!They are striking the judge of Israelon the cheek with a rod.

Surely a son considers his father a fool,a daughter opposes her mother,and a daughter-in-law is against her mother-in-law;a man’s enemies are the men of his own household.

Sing for joy, Daughter Zion;shout loudly, Israel!Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,Daughter Jerusalem!

“Go, Zion! Escape, you who are living with Daughter Babylon.”

“Daughter Zion, shout for joy and be glad, for I am coming to dwell among you”—this is the Lord’s declaration.

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem!Look, your King is coming to you;He is righteous and victorious,humble and riding on a donkey,on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Judah has acted treacherously, and a detestable thing has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah has profaned the Lord’s sanctuary, which He loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.
