'Face' in the Bible

O Lord, lead me in Your righteousness because of my enemies;Make Your way straight (direct, right) before me.

He says to himself, “God has [quite] forgotten;He has hidden His face; He will never see my deed.”

For the Lord is [absolutely] righteous, He loves righteousness (virtue, morality, justice);The upright shall see His face.

How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?How long will You hide Your face from me?

Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;Give light (life) to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death,

As for me, I shall see Your face in righteousness;I will be [fully] satisfied when I awake [to find myself] seeing Your likeness.

For He has not despised nor detested the suffering of the afflicted;Nor has He hidden His face from him;But when he cried to Him for help, He listened.

This is the generation (description) of those who diligently seek Him and require Him as their greatest need,Who seek Your face, even [as did] Jacob. Selah.

When You said, “Seek My face [in prayer, require My presence as your greatest need],” my heart said to You,“Your face, O Lord, I will seek [on the authority of Your word].”

Do not hide Your face from me,Do not turn Your servant away in anger;You have been my help;Do not abandon me nor leave me,O God of my salvation!

By Your favor and grace, O Lord, you have made my mountain stand strong;You hid Your face, and I was horrified.

Make Your face shine upon Your servant;Save me in Your lovingkindness.

The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,To cut off the memory of them from the earth.

My soul (my life, my inner self) thirsts for God, for the living God.When will I come and see the face of God?

My dishonor is before me all day long,And humiliation has covered my face,

Why do You hide Your faceAnd forget our affliction and our oppression?

Hide Your face from my sinsAnd blot out all my iniquities.

He will sit enthroned forever before [the face of] God;Appoint lovingkindness and truth to watch over and preserve him.

God be gracious and kind-hearted to us and bless us,And make His face shine [with favor] on us— Selah.

Because for Your sake I have borne reproach;Confusion and dishonor have covered my face.

Do not hide Your face from Your servant,For I am in distress; answer me quickly.

Restore us, O God;Cause Your face to shine on us [with favor and approval], and we will be saved.

Restore us, O God of hosts;And cause Your face to shine on us [with favor and approval], and we will be saved.

Restore us, O Lord God of hosts;Cause Your face to shine on us [in favor and approval], and we shall be saved.

See our shield, O God,And look at the face of Your anointed [the king as Your representative].

O Lord, why do You reject me?Why do You hide Your face from me?

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;Lovingkindness and truth go before You.

“I will crush his adversaries before him,And strike those who hate him.

Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress!Incline Your ear to me;In the day when I call, answer me quickly.

And wine which makes the heart of man glad,So that he may make his face glisten with oil,And bread to sustain and strengthen man’s heart.

You hide Your face, they are dismayed;You take away their breath, they dieAnd return to their dust.

You send out Your Spirit, they are created;You renew the face of the ground.

Seek and deeply long for the Lord and His strength [His power, His might];Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually.

Make Your face shine [with pleasure] upon Your servant,And teach me Your statutes.

For the sake of Your servant David,Do not turn away the face of Your anointed.

Surely the righteous will give thanks to Your name;The upright will dwell in Your presence.

Answer me quickly, O Lord, my spirit fails;Do not hide Your face from me,Or I will become like those who go down into the pit (grave).
