'Prophet' in the Bible

Now all this happened in order that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled, saying,

So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet,

Then what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled, saying,

For this is the one who was spoken about by the prophet Isaiah, saying, "The voice of one crying out in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.'"

The one who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.

But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and even more than a prophet!

in order that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled, who said,

But he answered [and] said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation desires a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah!

in order that what was spoken through the prophet would be fulfilled, who said, "I will open my mouth in parables; I will proclaim what has been hidden since the creation."

And they were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his [own] hometown and in his [own] household."

Now this took place so that what was spoken through the prophet would be fulfilled, saying,

But if we say, 'From men,' we are afraid of the crowd, because they all look upon John as a prophet."

and [although they] wanted to arrest him, they were afraid of the crowds, because they looked upon him as a prophet.

Then what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled, who said, "And they took the thirty silver coins, the price of the one who had been priced, [on] whom a price had been set by the sons of Israel,

Just as it is written in the prophet Isaiah, "Behold, I am sending my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way,

And Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, and among his relatives, and in his [own] household."

But others were saying, "He is Elijah," and others were saying, "[He is] a prophet like one of the prophets."

But if we say, 'From men'"--they were afraid of the crowd, because they all looked upon John {as truly a prophet}.

And so you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High, for you will go on before the Lord to prepare his ways,

as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah, "The voice of one crying out in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight!

And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him, and unrolling the scroll he found the place where it was written,

And he said, "Truly I say to you that no prophet is acceptable in his [own] hometown.

And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was made clean except Naaman the Syrian."

And fear seized [them] all, and they began to glorify God, saying, "A great prophet has appeared among us!" and "God has visited to help his people!"

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and even more than a prophet!

Now [when] the Pharisee who invited him saw [this], he spoke to himself, saying, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what kind of woman [this is] who is touching him, that she is a sinner."

and by some that Elijah had appeared, and others that some prophet of ancient times had risen.

Nevertheless, it is necessary [for] me to be on the way today and tomorrow and on the next [day], because it is not possible [for] a prophet to perish outside Jerusalem.

But if we say, 'From men,' all the people will stone us to death, because they are convinced [that] John was a prophet."

And he said to them, "What [things]?" So they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, a man who was a prophet, powerful in deed and word before God and all the people,

And they asked him, "Then who [are] you? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not!" "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No!"

He said, "I [am] 'the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, "Make straight the way of the Lord," ' just as Isaiah the prophet said."

And they asked him and said to him, "Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"

For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own homeland.

Now [when] the people saw the sign that he performed, they began to say, "This one is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world!"

Then, [when they] heard these words, [some] from the crowd began to say, "This man is truly the Prophet!"

They answered and said to him, "You are not also from Galilee, [are you]? Investigate and see that a prophet does not arise from Galilee!" [[

So they said to the blind man again, "What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?" And he said, "He is a prophet."

in order that the word of the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled, who said, "Lord, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"

But this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:

Therefore, [because he] was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat {one of his descendants} on his throne,

Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You will listen to him in everything that he says to you.

And it will be [that] every soul who does not listen to that prophet will be destroyed utterly from the people.'

"This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, 'God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers.'

But the Most High does not live in [houses] made by human hands, just as the prophet says,

and was returning and sitting in his chariot, and reading aloud the prophet Isaiah.

So Philip ran up to [it] [and] heard him reading aloud Isaiah the prophet and said, "So then, do you understand what you are reading?"

And the eunuch answered [and] said to Philip, "I ask you, about whom does the prophet say this--about himself or about someone else?"

And [when they] had crossed over the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a Jewish false prophet whose name [was] Bar-Jesus,

[This took] about four hundred and fifty years. And after these [things], he gave [them] judges until Samuel the prophet.

And [while we] were staying [there] many days, a certain prophet {named} Agabus came down from Judea.

So being in disagreement with one another, they began to leave [after] Paul made one statement: "The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through the prophet Isaiah to your fathers,

And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet three unclean spirits like frogs.
