'Teacher' in the Bible

They cast lots to determine their responsibilities -- oldest as well as youngest, teacher as well as student.

Indeed, God is exalted in his power; who is a teacher like him?

The words of the Teacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem:

"Futile! Futile!" laments the Teacher, "Absolutely futile! Everything is futile!"

I, the Teacher, have been king over Israel in Jerusalem.

The Teacher says: I discovered this while trying to discover the scheme of things, item by item.

Now someone came up to him and said, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to gain eternal life?"

They sent to him their disciples along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are truthful, and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You do not court anyone's favor because you show no partiality.

"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"

But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have one Teacher and you are all brothers.

He said, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is near. I will observe the Passover with my disciples at your house."'"

While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler's house saying, "Your daughter has died. Why trouble the teacher any longer?"

A member of the crowd said to him, "Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that makes him mute.

John said to him, "Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he was not following us."

Now as Jesus was starting out on his way, someone ran up to him, fell on his knees, and said, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

The man said to him, "Teacher, I have wholeheartedly obeyed all these laws since my youth."

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him and said, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask."

When they came they said to him, "Teacher, we know that you are truthful and do not court anyone's favor, because you show no partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn't we?"

"Teacher, Moses wrote for us: 'If a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, that man must marry the widow and father children for his brother.'

The expert in the law said to him, "That is true, Teacher; you are right to say that he is one, and there is no one else besides him.

Now as Jesus was going out of the temple courts, one of his disciples said to him, "Teacher, look at these tremendous stones and buildings!"

Wherever he enters, tell the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"'

Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what should we do?"

A disciple is not greater than his teacher, but everyone when fully trained will be like his teacher.

So Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." He replied, "Say it, Teacher."

While he was still speaking, someone from the synagogue ruler's house came and said, "Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher any longer."

Then a man from the crowd cried out, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son -- he is my only child!

Now an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus, saying, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

One of the experts in religious law answered him, "Teacher, when you say these things you insult us too."

Then someone from the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."

Thus they asked him, "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach correctly, and show no partiality, but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.

They asked him, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies leaving a wife but no children, that man must marry the widow and father children for his brother.

Then some of the experts in the law answered, "Teacher, you have spoken well!"

So they asked him, "Teacher, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that these things are about to take place?"

and tell the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says to you, "Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?"'

Jesus turned around and saw them following and said to them, "What do you want?" So they said to him, "Rabbi" (which is translated Teacher), "where are you staying?"

came to Jesus at night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs that you do unless God is with him."

and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery.

And when she had said this, Martha went and called her sister Mary, saying privately, "The Teacher is here and is asking for you."

If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you too ought to wash one another's feet.

Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him in Aramaic, "Rabboni" (which means Teacher).

But a Pharisee whose name was Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who was respected by all the people, stood up in the council and ordered the men to be put outside for a short time.
