and she brought forth her Son, the Firstborn, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And the angel said to them, "Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which, indeed, shall be to all the people; because there was born to-day, in the city of David, a Saviour, Who is Christ the Lord. And this is the sign to you: ye will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger."

And, while thinking of these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to yourself Mary your wife; for that which was begotten in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus; for He will save His people from their sins."

And the angel said to her, "Fear not, Mary; for you found favor from God. And, behold, you shall conceive in your womb, and shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to Him the throne of His father David;read more.
and He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of His Kingdom there shall be no end." And Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I know not a man?" And the angel, answering, said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; wherefore also the Holy Thing that is begotten shall be called the Son of God.

And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us, (and we beheld His glory??lory as of the Only Begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

He was the true Light That lighteth every man coming into the world.

For, what was impossible under law, wherein it was weak through the flesh. God, sending His Own Son in likeness of sinful flesh, and, respecting sin, condemned sin in the flesh;

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might become rich.

But, when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under law, that He might redeem those under law, that, we might receive the adoption of sons.

Who, existing originally in the form of God, accounted it not a prize to he equal with God. but emptied Himself, taking a slave's form, coming to be in the likeness of men;

And, confessedly, great is the mystery of godliness; God was manifested in flesh, was justified in the Spirit, was seen by angels, preached among the gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

Since, therefore, the children have partaken of blood and flesh, He Himself also in like manner took part of the same; that, through death, He might bring to nought him who had the power of death, that is, the Devil;

That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we gazed upon, and our hands handled, concerning the Word of Life (and the Life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you The Eternal Life; Who, indeed, was with the Father, and was manifested to us);

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;

Him Who knew no sin He made to be sin on our behalf, that we may become God's righteousness in Him.

for we have not a High Priest, unable to sympathize with our infirmities, but One Who hath been tempted in all points like as we, apart from sin.

For such a High Priest was befitting us, holy, harmless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who hath no necessity daily, as the high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for his own sins, and then for those of the people (for this He did once for all, when He offered up Himself); for the law constitutes men high priests who have infirmity, but the word of the oath, which was after the law, constitutes the Son perfected forever.

And ye know that He was manifested, that He might take away sins; and in Him is no sin.

and, being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

And Jesus, crying again with a loud voice, yielded up His spirit.

And Jesus, uttering a loud cry, expired.

And, crying with a loud voice, Jesus said, "Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit." And, having said this, He expired.

When, therefore, Jesus received the vinegar, He said, "It has been finished;" and, bowing His head, He delivered up His spirit.

But God commendeth His own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more, therefore, being now justified by His blood, shall we be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son; much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved by His life;read more.
and not only so, but we are rejoicing in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom we now received the reconciliation.

"I came to cast fire on the earth; and what wish I, if it were already kindled? But I have an immersion to be immersed with; and how am I constrained until it be accomplished!

Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things, and enter into His glory?"

I glorified Thee on the earth; having completed the work which Thou hast given Me to do.

This Man, delivered up by the settled counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye, having fastened to the cross, through the hand of lawless ones, did slay:

For as, through the disobedience of the one man, the many were constituted sinners; so also through the obedience of the One, shall the many be constituted righteous.

but we preach Christ crucified; to the Jews, a stumbling-block, and to the gentiles foolishness; but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by Whose bruise ye were healed.

For I delivered to you, among the first things, that which also I received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He hath been raised on the third day according to the Scriptures; and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve,read more.

And, behold, there occurred a great commotion; for an angel of the Lord, descending out of Heaven, and coming near, rolled away the stone, and was sitting upon it. and, from fear of him, those keeping watch were shaken, and became as dead. And the angel, answering, said to the women, "Fear not; for I know that ye are seeking Jesus Who hath been crucified. He is not here; for He arose, as He said. Come! see the place where the Lord was lying; and, going quickly, say to His disciples, 'He arose from the dead;' and, behold, He is going before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him; behold, I told you." And, departing quickly from the sepulchre, with fear and great joy, they ran to announce it to His disciples.

And, the sabbath having past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, that, coming, they might anoint Him. And, very early on the first day of the sabbaths, they come to the tomb, the sun having risen. And they were saying among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone for us out of the door of the tomb?"read more.
And, looking up, they see that the stone has been rolled back; for it was exceedingly great. And, entering into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe; and they were amazed. But he says to them; "Be not amazed. Ye are seeking Jesus the Nazarene, the crucified. He arose; He is not here; behold, the place where they laid Him! But go, say to his disciples, and to Peter, that He is going before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him, as He said to you." And, going out, they fled from the tomb; for trembling and astonishment seized them. And they said nothing to any one; for they were afraid.

But, on the first day of the sabbaths, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb; and, entering, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus.read more.
And it came to pass, while they were perplexed about this, behold, also two men stood near them in dazzling apparel. And, as they became afraid, and were bowing their faces to the earth, they said to them, "Why are ye seeking the Living among the dead? He is not here, but was raised. Remember how He spake to you, being yet in Galilee, saying, "The Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again," And they remembered His words; and, returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. Now on the first day of the sabbaths Mary Magdelene comes early in the morning while it was yet dark to the tomb, and sees the stone taken out of the tomb. She runs, therefore, and comes to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and says to them, "They took away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they laid Him!" Peter, therefore, went forth, and the other disciple, and they were going to the tomb.read more.
And the two were running together; and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb; and, having stooped to look within, he beholds the linen cloths lying; yet he went not within. Simon Peter, therefore, also comes, following him, and he went into the tomb; and beholds the linen cloths lying, and the napkin that was on His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself. Then went in, therefore, the other disciple also, who came first to the tomb; and he saw, and believed; for as yet they knew not the Scripture, that He must rise from the dead.

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my Gospel; wherein I am suffering hardship, even to bonds, as a malefactor; but the Word of God has not become bound. Therefore, I suffer all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

and, if Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, and vain is your faith;

Who was delivered up for our trespasses, and raised for our justification.

What, then, shall we say? Shall we persist in sin, that grace may abound? It could not be! How shall we, who died to sin, live any longer therein? Or are ye ignorant, that all we who were immersed into Christ Jesus were immersed into His death?read more.
We were buried, therefore, with Him through the immersion into death; that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. For, if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection; knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be brought to nought, that we should no more be in bondage to sin; for he that died has been justified from sin. But, if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him; knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dieth no more; death no more has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to Sin once for all; but the life that He liveth He liveth to God. Even so reckon ye also yourselves dead, indeed, to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin, therefore, reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey its desires; neither present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members to God as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under law, but under grace.

For since through man came death, through Man came also the resurrection of the dead.

And, having said these things, while they were beholding, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him from their sight.

The Lord Jesus, therefore, after He spake to them, was caught up into Heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

And He led them as far as to Bethany; and, lifting up His hands, He blessed them. And it came to pass that, while He was blessing them, He parted from them, and was borne up into Heaven.

The first narrative I made, O Theophilus, concerning all things that Jesus began both to do and to teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after having given commandment, through the Holy Spirit, to the apostles whom He chose;

Being, therefore, exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He was pouring forth this which ye both see and hear.

who is he that condemns? It is Christ Who died, yea, rather, That was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God, Who also is making intercession for us.

If, therefore, ye were raised up with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.

Who, being an effulgence of His glory and an exact expression of His substance, and upholding all things by the word of His power, having made a purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

looking away to the Author and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus; Who, in consideration of the joy lying before Him, endured the cross, despising shame, and hath taken a seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
