For when we were yet without strength, Christ died in due season for the ungodly. Whereas one would hardly die for a just man, though perhaps for a good man one might dare even to die. But God recommendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
What shall we say then? Is there injustice in God? God forbid! For He saith to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

It is a truth highly to be believed, and worthy to be received by all, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners:---of whom I am one of the chief. But for this end I obtained mercy, that in me a chief sinner Jesus Christ might display his long-suffering, for an example to those who should afterwards believe on Him to eternal life.
And there is salvation in no other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we can be saved.

But not as the offence, so also is the free gift: for if through the offence of one many died, much more hath the grace of God, and the gift bestowed by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. For the gift is not as the sentence was by one that sinned; for the sentence is passed from one offence to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences to justification. For if, by the offence of one, death reigned through one, much more they who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness, shall reign in life through one, even Jesus Christ.

I do not frustate the grace of God: for if righteousness be by the law, then Christ died in vain.
This then I say, that the law, which was given four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul the covenant, which was so long before confirmed by God unto Christ, to make void the promise. Let us therefore come with freedom to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace for our seasonable help.
