In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. By Him were all things made, and without Him was not any one thing made that was made.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, being full of grace and truth: and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only-begotten of the Father.

God, who at sundry times, and various ways, spake of old unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds.

Whoever therefore heareth these words of mine, and performeth them, I will compare him to a prudent man, who built his house on a rock: and the rain fell upon it, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not; for it was founded upon a rock. And whoever heareth these words of mine, and performeth them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand:read more.
and the rain fell upon it, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell, and the fall thereof was great. And when Jesus had ended these discourses, the people were amazed at his doctrine: for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.

Whosoever cometh unto me, and heareth my instructions, and observeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: he is like a man who in building an house digged deep, and laid the foundation upon a rock; and when a flood came, the torrent beat violently against that house, but could not shake it, for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth and observeth not, is like a man that built an house upon the ground without any foundation, which the flood beat violently upon, and immediately it fell down, and the ruin of that house was great.

And he who received the seed as upon stony grounds, is one that heareth the word and immediately receiveth it with joy: yet hath he no root in himself, and therefore is but for a short season; and when affliction cometh, or persecution on account of the word, he is as soon disgusted. And he that received the seed among the thorns, is one that likewise heareth the word; but the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choketh the word, and so it becometh unfruitful.read more.
But he who received the seed into good ground, is one that heareth and understandeth the word, who indeed beareth fruit, and yieldeth, like fertile lands, some an hundred-fold, some sixty, some thirty.

Then saith He unto them, Do ye not understand this parable? how then will ye understand all my other parables. The sower is he that soweth the word. And these are they by the way-side: where the word is sown; but when they have heard it, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.read more.

And those on stony-ground are such as when they hear, receive the word with joy; but have no root, and so believe only for a while, and in the time of trial fall away.read more.
And that which fell among thorns, are those who when they have heard the word go away and are choked with the cares and riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground, are those who having heard the word, retain it in a good and honest heart, and bring forth fruit with patience.

but He replied, Yea rather happy are they, that hear the word of God and keep it.

for He, whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth the Spirit to Him not by measure.

Verily, verily I say unto you, he, that heareth my word, and believeth in Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come under condemnation; but is passed from death to life.

The spirit is the principle of life, the flesh availeth nothing: now the words that I speak unto you are spirit, and therefore life. But there are some of you that believe not: (for Jesus knew from the beginning, who they were that believed not, and who would betray Him: and He said,) therefore I told you, that no one can come unto me except it be given him from my Father.read more.
From this time many of his disciples went away, and walked no more with Him. Jesus therefore said to the twelve, Have ye also a mind to go away? Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go?

Therefore said Jesus to the Jews that believed on Him, If ye continue in my word, ye are indeed my disciples. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

And if any one hear my words and believe not, I do not condemn him: for I am not now come to condemn the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word, that I have spoken, will condemn him at the last day. Dost thou not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? as to the words which I speak to you, I speak them not of my self; and the Father who abideth in me, doth the works. Believe me therefore that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: at lest, believe me for the very works. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, I will do it: that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another comforter to abide with you for ever: even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, because He abideth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you orphans: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world shall see me no more; but ye shall see me: and because I live, ye shall live also. He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest my self to him. Judas (not the Iscariot) saith unto Him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thy self to us, and not to the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If any one love me, he will observe my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and will make our abode with him. He that doth not love me, doth not observe my words: and yet the word that ye hear, is not mine, but the Father's who hath sent me.

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

I have manifested thy name to the men, whom Thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and Thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word. They now know that all things whatsoever Thou hast given me, are indeed from Thee; for the instructions, which Thou gavest me, I have given to them: and they have received them, and have known of a truth that I came from Thee, and have believed that thou hast sent me.

And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the holy Spirit, and they spake the word of God with freedom.

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings; and give unto thy servants to speak thy word with all freedom, while Thou art stretching forth thy hand to heal,

And on the next sabbath almost all the city came together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, opposing and reviling him. For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much certainty; as ye know what sort of persons we were among you for your sakes.

for we are graciously offered it, as they also were. But the word, which they heard, did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

but He answered and said, It is written, "Man shall not live upon bread only, but on whatever proceedeth from the mouth of God."

Jesus answered and said unto him, If any one love me, he will observe my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and will make our abode with him. He that doth not love me, doth not observe my words: and yet the word that ye hear, is not mine, but the Father's who hath sent me.

Sanctify them by thy truth: thy word is truth.

take also the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

For the word of God is lively and efficacious, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of the very joints and marrow, and judging the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

but I tell you, that of every idle word, which men shall speak, they shall give an account in the day of judgement; for by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

My brethren, be not many teachers, knowing that we who are such shall pass a stricter trial than others: for in many things we all offend; and if any offend not in word, he is a compleat man, able to manage also the whole body. Behold we put bridles into the mouths of horses, that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body as we please.read more.
Behold also the ships which are of so great bulk, and even when they are driven by hard winds, yet are turned about by a very small helm which way soever the pilot pleaseth. So the tongue is a small part of the body, yet boasteth great things. Behold how much fuel a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our several parts, defiling the whole body, inflaming the course of nature, and is set on fire by hell. For every kind of wild beasts, and birds, and reptiles, and fishes, is tamed and hath been tamed by mankind: but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless God even the Father; and with it we curse men, who are made after the likeness of God: out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. These things, my brethren, ought not so to be. Does a fountain from the same opening send forth sweet water and bitter? Can a fig-tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine figs? so can no fountain produce salt water and sweet.
