For I say to you, That unless your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

So ye likewise outwardly appear righteous to men; but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

And he said to them, Ye are they who justify yourselves before men: but God knoweth your hearts: And that which is highly esteemed among men, is an abomination before God.

And he spake this parable to certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others.

As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one.

persecuting the church, touching the righteousness, which is by the law, blameless. But whatsoever things were gain to me, those I have accounted loss for Christ.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God hath done: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, to be a sacrifice for sin, he hath condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

And to put on the new man, which is created after God, in righteousness and true holiness.

If ye know, that he is righteous, ye know that every one who doth righteousness is born of him.

Neither present your members to sin, as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members to God, as instruments of righteousness.

Now if Christ be in you, the body indeed is dead because of sin, but the spirit is life because of righteousness.

For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

Now all chastning for the present is assuredly not joyous, but grievous; yet afterwards it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness to them that are exercised thereby.

without partiality and without dissimulation, And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for them that make peace.

Who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to sin might live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

But the righteousness of God without the law is now manifested, being attested by the law and the prophets,

What shall we say then? That our father Abraham hath found according to the flesh? If Abraham was justified by works, he hath whereof to glory: but he hath not in the sight of God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness.read more.
Now to him that worketh, the reward is not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is imputed to him for righteousness. So David also describeth the happiness of the man, to whom God imputeth righteousness without works: Happy are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; Happy is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

For if through one man's offence death reigned by one, they who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness, shall much more reign in life, by one, even Jesus Christ.

What shall we say then? That the Gentiles who followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith: But Israel following after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

But that none is justified by the law in the sight of God, is evident; for the just shall live by faith. Now the law is not of faith; but the man that doeth them, shall live by them.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have been introduced through faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

But the righteousness of God without the law is now manifested, being attested by the law and the prophets, Even the righteousness of God, by the faith of Jesus Christ, to all and upon all that believe; for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and are fallen short of the glory of God,read more.
And are justified freely by his grace, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth as a propitiation, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness by the remission of past sins, through the forbearance of God: For a demonstration, I say, of his righteousness in this present time, that he might be just, and yet the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus.

Who against hope believed in hope, that he should be the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And not being weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, being about an hundred years old, nor the deadness of Sarah's womb. And being fully assured, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. But the righteousness which is by faith speaketh thus: Say not in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven, (that is, to bring Christ down:) Or who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring Christ again from the dead) But what saith he? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the word of faith which we preach:read more.
That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart, that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.

As Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness. Know then, that they who are of faith, these are the sons of Abraham. And the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, declared before the glad tidings to Abraham, In thee shall all the nations be blessed.read more.
So then they who are of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse;

Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? Thou seest that faith wrought together with his works, and by works was faith made perfect. And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness: and he was called the friend of God.read more.
Ye see then, that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
