The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the participation of the blood of the Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the participation of the body of the Christ? Because the loaf is one, we, the many, are one body, for we are all partakers of the one loaf.

And he said to them: I have greatly desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer. For I say to you, I will eat of it no more till it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new mass, as you are without leaven; for Christ, our passover, has been sacrificed for us.
