On Divorce
1 Then he left and went to the territory of Judaea over the Jordan. Crowds gathered to him again, and again he taught them as usual.
1 And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.
1 (A)Getting up, He *went from there to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan; crowds *gathered around Him again, and, (B)according to His custom, He once more began to teach them.
1 He(A) set out from there and went to the region of Judea(B) and across the Jordan.(C) Then crowds converged on Him again and, as He usually did, He began teaching(D) them once more.
1 Then Jesus left that place and went into the territory of Judea on the other side of the Jordan. Crowds gathered around him as usual, and he began to teach them again as was his custom.
2 Now some Pharisees came up and asked him if a man was allowed to divorce his wife. This was to tempt him.
2 And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
2 Some Pharisees came up to Jesus, testing Him, and began to question Him whether it was lawful for a man to (a)divorce a wife.
2 Some Pharisees(E) approached Him to test(F) Him. They asked, “Is it lawful(G) for a man to divorce(H) his wife?”(I)

10 Indoors, the disciples again asked him about this,
10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.
10 In the house the disciples began questioning Him about this again.
10 Now in the house the disciples questioned Him again about this matter.
10 Back in the house, the disciples asked him about this again.
11 and he said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman is an adulterer to the former,
11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
11 And He *said to them, “(I)Whoever (e)divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her;
11 And He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife(T) and marries(U) another commits adultery(V) against her.
11 So he told them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her.
12 and she is an adulteress if she divorces her husband and marries another man."
12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
12 and (J)if she herself (f)divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.”
12 And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."
Little Children Brought To Jesus
13 Now people brought children for him to touch them, and the disciples checked them;
13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
13 (K)And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them.
13 Some(X) people were bringing little children(Y) to Him so He might touch them, but His disciples rebuked(Z) them.
13 Some people were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
14 but Jesus was angry when he saw this, and he said to them, "Let the children come to me, do not stop them: the Realm of God belongs to such as these.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
14 But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; (L)for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
14 When Jesus saw it, He was indignant(AA) and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me.(AB) Don’t stop(AC) them, for the kingdom of God(AD) belongs to such as these.
14 When Jesus saw this, he became furious and told them, "Let the little children come to me, and stop keeping them away, because the kingdom of God belongs to people like these.
15 I tell you truly, whoever will not submit to the Reign of God like a child will never get into it at all."
15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
15 Truly I say to you, (M)whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.”
15 I assure you:(AE) Whoever does not welcome(e)(AF) the kingdom of God like a little child(AG) will never enter it.”
15 I tell all of you with certainty, whoever doesn't receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it."
A Rich Young Man
17 As he went out on the road a man ran up and knelt down before him. "Good teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit life eternal?"
17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
17 (O)As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and (P)knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to (Q)inherit eternal life?”
17 As(AJ) He was setting out on a journey,(AK) a man ran up, knelt down(AL) before Him, and asked Him, “Good(AM) Teacher,(AN) what must I do to inherit(AO) eternal life?”(AP)
17 As Jesus was setting out again, a man ran up to him, knelt down in front of him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
18 Jesus said to him, "Why call me 'good'? No one is good, no one but God.
18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.
18 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus asked him. "Nobody is good except for one God.

19 You know the commandments: "Never murder.' "Never commit adultery.' "Never steal.' "Never give false testimony.' "Never cheat.' "Honor your father and mother.'"
21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. "There is one thing you want," he said; "go and sell all you have; give the money to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, take up the cross, and follow me."
21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
21 Looking at him, Jesus felt a love for him and said to him, “One thing you lack: go and sell all you possess and give to the poor, and you will have (T)treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
21 Then, looking at him, Jesus loved him(AZ) and said to him, “You lack one thing: Go, sell all you have and give to the poor,(BA) and you will have treasure(BB) in heaven.(BC) Then come,(g) follow Me.”(BD)
21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. Then he told him, "You're missing one thing. Go and sell everything you own, give the money to the destitute, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come back and follow me."
22 But his face fell at that, and he went sadly away, for he had great possessions.
22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
22 But at these words (g)he was saddened, and he went away grieving, for he was one who owned much property.
22 But he was stunned(h) at this demand, and he went away grieving,(BE) because he had many possessions.(BF)
22 Shocked at this statement, the man went away sad, because he had many possessions.
23 Jesus looked round and said to his disciples, "How difficult it is for those who have money to get into the Realm of God!"
23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
23 And Jesus, looking around, *said to His disciples, “(U)How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!”
23 Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have wealth(BG) to enter the kingdom of God!”(BH)
23 Then Jesus looked around and told his disciples, "How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!"
24 The disciples were amazed at what he said; so he repeated, "My sons, how difficult it is [for those who rely on money] to get into the Realm of God!
24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
24 The disciples (V)were amazed at His words. But Jesus *answered again and *said to them, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!
24 But the disciples were astonished at His words. Again Jesus said to them, “Children,(BI) how hard it is(i) to enter the kingdom of God!
24 The disciples were startled by these words, but Jesus told them again, "Children, how hard it is for those who trust in their wealth to get into the kingdom of God!
25 It is easier for a camel to get through a needle's eye than for a rich man to get into the Realm of God."
25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25 (W)It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich(BJ) person to enter the kingdom of God.”
25 It's easier for a camel to squeeze through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into the kingdom of God."
27 Jesus looked at them and said, "For men it is impossible, but not for God: anything is possible for God."
27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
27 Looking at them, Jesus *said, “(X)With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”
27 Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men it is impossible,(BL) but not with God, because all things are possible with God.”
27 Jesus looked at them intently and said, "For humans it's impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God."
29 Jesus said, "I tell you truly, no one has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel,
29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
29 Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, (Z)there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake,
29 “I assure you,”(BN) Jesus said, “there is no one who has left house, brothers or sisters, mother or father,(j) children, or fields because of Me and the gospel,(BO)
29 Jesus said, "I tell all of you with certainty, there is no one who has left his home, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, or fields because of me and the gospel
30 who does not get a hundred times as much ??in this present world homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and lands, together with persecutions, and in the world to come life eternal.

Jesus Predicts His Death And Resurrection A Third Time
32 They were on the way up to Jerusalem, Jesus walking in front of them: the disciples were in dismay and the company who followed were afraid. So once again he took the twelve aside and proceeded to tell them what was going to happen to himself.
32 And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,
32 (AC)They were on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on ahead of them; and they (AD)were amazed, and those who followed were fearful. And again He took the twelve aside and began to tell them what was going to happen to Him,
32 They(BV) were on the road, going up to Jerusalem,(BW) and Jesus was walking ahead of them. They were astonished, but those who followed Him were afraid.(BX) Taking the Twelve aside again, He began to tell them the things that would happen to Him.(BY)
32 Now Jesus and his disciples had been on the road going up to Jerusalem, with Jesus walking ahead of them. They were astonished, and the others who followed were afraid.
33 "We are going up to Jerusalem," he said, "and the Son of man will be betrayed to the high priests and scribes; they will sentence him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles,
33 Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
33 saying, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and (AE)the Son of Man will be (k)delivered to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and will (l)hand Him over to the Gentiles.
33 “Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man(BZ) will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes,(CA) and they will condemn Him to death. Then they will hand Him over to the Gentiles,(CB)
33 Once again, Jesus took the Twelve aside and began to tell them what was going to happen to him. "Pay attention! We're going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the high priests and the scribes, and they'll condemn him to death. Then they'll hand him over to the unbelievers,
34 who will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him; then after three days he will rise again."
34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
34 They will mock Him and (AF)spit on Him, and scourge Him and kill Him, and three days later He will rise again.”
34 and they will mock Him, spit on Him, flog(k) Him, and kill Him, and He will rise(CC) after three days.”(CD)
34 and they'll make fun of him, spit on him, whip him, and kill him. But after three days he'll be raised."
A Request By James And John
35 James and John, the sons of Zebedaeus, came up to him saying, "Teacher, we want you to do whatever we ask you."
35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
35 (m)(AG)James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, *came up to Jesus, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.”
35 Then(CE) James(CF) and John,(CG) the sons of Zebedee,(CH) approached Him and said, “Teacher,(CI) we want You to do something for us if we ask You.”
35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, went to Jesus and told him, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask you."
37 They said to him, "Give us seats, one at your right hand and one at your left hand, in your glory."
37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
37 They said to Him, “(n)Grant that we (AH)may sit, one on Your right and one on Your left, in Your glory.”
37 They asked him, "Let us sit in your glory, one on your right and one on your left."
38 Jesus said, "You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup I have to drink, or undergo the baptism I have to undergo?"
38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
38 But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able (AI)to drink the cup that I drink, or (AJ)to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?”
38 But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you’re asking.(CK) Are you able to drink the cup(CL) I drink or to be baptized with the baptism(CM) I am baptized with?”(CN)
38 But Jesus told them, "You don't realize what you're asking. Can you drink from the cup that I'm going to drink from or be baptized with the baptism with which I'm going to be baptized?"
39 They said to him, "We can." Jesus said, "You shall drink the cup I have to drink and undergo the baptism I have to undergo;
39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
39 They said to Him, “We are able.” And Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink (AK)you shall drink; and you shall be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized.
39 “We are able,” they told Him.Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with.(CO)
39 They told him, "We can."
40 but it is not for me to grant seats at my right or my left hand ??these belong to the men for whom they have been destined."
40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
40 But to sit on My right or on My left, this is not Mine to give; (AL)but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”
40 But to sit at My right or left is not Mine to give; instead, it is for those it has been prepared for.”
40 Jesus told them, "You will drink from the cup that I'm going to drink and be baptized with the baptism with which I'm going to be baptized. But it's not up to me to grant you a seat at my right or my left. Those positions have already been prepared for others."
42 so Jesus called them and said, "You know the so-called rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men overbear them:
42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
42 Calling them to Himself, Jesus *said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great men exercise authority over them.
42 Jesus called them over and said to them, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles dominate(CQ) them, and their men of high positions exercise power over them.
42 Jesus called his disciples and told them, "You know that those who are recognized as rulers among the unbelievers lord it over them, and their superiors act like tyrants over them.
43 not so with you. Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant,
43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
43 But it is not this way among you, (AN)but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant;
43 But it must not be like that among you.(CR) On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,(CS)
43 That's not the way it should be among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
45 for the Son of man himself has not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
45 For even the Son of Man (AO)did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His (p)life a ransom for many.”
45 For even the Son of Man(CU) did not come to be served, but to serve,(CV) and to give His life(CW)—a ransom(CX) for many.”(l)(CY)
45 because even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many people."

46 Then they reached Jericho; and as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a considerable crowd, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, the blind beggar who sat beside the road,

48 A number of the people checked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have pity on me!"
48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
48 Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “(AT)Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48 Many people told him to keep quiet, but he was crying out all the more, “Have mercy on me,(DI) Son of David!”
48 Many people sternly told him to be quiet, but he started shouting even louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
49 Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." Then they called the blind man and told him, "Courage! Get up, he is calling you."
49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they *called the blind man, saying to him, “(AU)Take courage, stand up! He is calling for you.”
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”So they called the blind man and said to him, “Have courage!(DJ) Get up; He’s calling for you.”
49 So Jesus stopped and said, "Call him!"
50 Throwing off his cloak he jumped up and went to Jesus.
50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
50 Throwing aside his cloak, he jumped up and came to Jesus.
50 So they called the blind man and told him, "Have courage! Get up. He's calling you." He threw off his coat, jumped up, and went to Jesus.
51 Jesus spoke to him and said, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man said, "Rabboni, I want to regain my sight."
51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
51 And answering him, Jesus said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the blind man said to Him, “(q)(AV)Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!”
51 Then Jesus answered him, “What do you want(DL) Me to do for you?”“Rabbouni,”(m)(DM) the blind man told Him, “I want to see!”
51 Then Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man told him, "Rabbouni, I want to see again."
52 Then Jesus said, "Go, your faith has made you well;" and he regained his sight at once and followed Jesus along the road.
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
52 And Jesus said to him, “Go; (AW)your faith has (r)made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.
52 “Go your way,” Jesus told him. “Your faith has healed you.”(DN) Immediately he could see and began to follow Him on the road.
52 Jesus told him, "Go. Your faith has made you well." At once the man could see again, and he began to follow Jesus down the road.
