And blindfolding Him, they struck Him on His face. And they asked Him, saying, Prophesy! Who is it who struck you?
And they spoke many other things blasphemously against Him.
And when day came, the body of elders of the people, and the chief priests and the scribes, came together. And they led Him to the sanhedrin, saying,
And they all said, Are you then the Son of God? And He said to them, You say it, because I AM!
And they said, What need do we have for any witness? For we ourselves have heard it from his own mouth.
And they began to accuse Him, saying, We have found this one perverting the nation and forbidding them to give tribute to Caesar, saying himself to be a king, Christ.
And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.
And that same day Pilate and Herod became friends with one another, for before they were at enmity between themselves.
And they all cried out at once, saying, Away with this One! And release to us Barabbas
But they pressed on him, with loud voices, requesting that He might be crucified. And their voices and those of the chief priests prevailed.
And he released to them the one who had been thrown into prison for sedition and murder, for whom they had asked. But he delivered up Jesus to their will.
And as they led Him away, they laid hold on one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country. And they laid the cross on him, that he might carry it after Jesus.
For behold, the days are coming in which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts which did not suckle.
And they shall begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us! And to the hills, Cover us!
For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
And when they came to the place which is called Calvary, they crucified Him and the criminals there, one on the right, and one on the left.
And Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do. And parting His clothing, they cast lots.
And they returned and they prepared spices and ointment. And they rested on the sabbath day according to the commandment.
And on the first of the sabbaths, while still very early, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
And going in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
And as they were much perplexed about it, it happened that, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.
And as they were afraid, and bowed their faces down to the earth, they said to them, Why do you seek the living among the dead?
And their words seemed to them like foolishness, and they did not believe them.
And they talked to each other of all these things which had happened.
And while they talked and reasoned, it happened that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.
But their eyes were held so that they could not know Him.
And He said to them, What things? And they said to Him, The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a man, a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,
and when they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that He was alive.
And some of those with us went to the tomb and found it even as the women had said. But they did not see Him.
And they drew near the village where they were going. And He appeared to be going further.
But they constrained Him, saying, Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is far spent. And He went in to stay with them.
And their eyes were opened, and they knew Him. And He became invisible to them.
And they said to one another, Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us by the way and while He opened the Scriptures to us?
And they rose up the same hour and returned to Jerusalem and found assembled the Eleven and those with them.
And they said, the Lord has indeed risen, and has appeared to Simon.
And in the way they related the things happening, and how He had been known by them in breaking of the loaf.
And as they spoke this, Jesus Himself stood in their midst, and said to them, Peace to you!
But they were terrified and filled with fear, for they thought they saw a spirit.
And while they still did not believe for joy, and wondered, He said to them, Have you any food here?
And they handed to Him a piece of a broiled fish and of a honeycomb.
And worshiping Him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
And they were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he says, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.
Then they said to him, Who are you so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say of yourself?
And they asked him and said, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor that Prophet?
And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
Then Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, What do you seek? They said to Him, Rabbi (which is called, being translated, Teacher), where do you live?
He says to them, Come and see. They came and saw where He lived, and stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.
And when they lacked wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, They have no wine.
Jesus said to them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
And He said to them, Now draw out and carry it to the master of the feast. And they carried it.
After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother and His brothers and His disciples. And they did not stay there many days.
Therefore when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them, and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.
And as He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, at the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the miracles which He did.
But he who practices truth comes to the Light so that his works may be revealed, that they exist, having been worked in God.
And John was also baptizing in Enon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized.
And they came to John and said to him, Rabbi, He who was with you beyond Jordan, to whom you bore witness, behold, He baptizes, and all come to Him!
God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.
Do you not say, It is yet four months, and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white to harvest already.
Then as the Samaritans had come to Him, they begged Him that He would stay with them. And He stayed there two days.
And they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of your saying, for we have heard Him ourselves and know that this is truly the Christ, the Savior of the world.
Then when He had come into Galilee, the Galileans received Him, having seen all the things that He did at Jerusalem at the feast; for they also went to the feast.
Then he asked of them the hour when he began to get better. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
Then they asked him, Who is the man who said to you, Take up your bed and walk?
so that all should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
Truly, truly, I say to you, The hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they who hear shall live.
You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life. And they are the ones witnessing of Me,
And a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His miracles which He did on the sick ones.
And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who had reclined; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.
And when they were filled, He said to His disciples, Gather up the fragments left over, so that nothing is lost.
Therefore they gathered and filled twelve handbaskets with fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over to those who had eaten.
Therefore when Jesus perceived that they would come and take Him by force, that they might make Him a king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain alone by Himself.
Then having rowed about twenty-five or thirty furlongs, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the ship. And they were afraid.
Then they willingly received Him into the boat. And immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.
The following day, the crowd standing on the other side of the sea had seen that there was no other little boat there except that one into which His disciples had entered, and when they saw that Jesus did not go with His disciples into the little boat, but that His disciples had gone away alone,
(however, other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they ate the loaves, the Lord having given thanks),
therefore, when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they themselves also entered into the boats and came to Capernaum seeking Jesus.
And when they had found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, Rabbi, when did you come here?
Then they said to Him, What shall we do that we might work the works of God?
Therefore they said to Him, What sign do you show then, so that we may see and believe you? What do you work?
And they said, Is this not Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How now does this One say, I have come down from Heaven?
It is written in the Prophets, "And they shall all be taught of God." Therefore everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to Me.
Then when they had heard, many of His disciples said, This is a hard saying, who can hear it?
But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who is the one betraying Him.
Then some of those from Jerusalem said, Is this not the one they seek to kill?
But lo, he speaks publicly, and they say nothing to him. Perhaps the rulers truly know that this is the Christ indeed?
Then they sought to seize Him, but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
(But He spoke this about the Spirit, which they who believed on Him should receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)
Then when they heard the Word, many of the people said, Truly this is the Prophet.
Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees. And they said to them, Why have you not brought him?
They answered and said to him, Are you also from Galilee? Search the scriptures and see that a prophet has not been raised out of Galilee.
they said to Him, Teacher, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
They said this, tempting Him so that they might have reason to accuse Him. But bending down, Jesus wrote on the ground with His finger, not appearing to hear.
