The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the exile to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the exile to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.

nor are they all children of Abraham because they are his descendants; but, "Through Isaac shall your descendants be named."
I ask, then, has God rejected his people? Certainly not! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I.
Even so Abraham "believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness."
Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you will all the nations be blessed."

just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children if you do what is right and are not frightened by any fear.
