Care » Paul's care of the church
Be on guard! Remember I did not cease for three years to admonish you day and night with tears.
Although I wrote to you, I did not write for the sake of the one who did wrong, nor for the one who suffered the wrong, but that your earnest care for us might be made manifest to you in the sight of God.
Beside those things that are from the outside, that which comes upon me daily, the care of all the congregations.
I am afraid that I may come and find you different from what I want you to be, and that you may find me different from what you want me to be. I fear that there may be rivalry, jealousy, hot tempers, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorderly conduct.
I fear for you, that I have labored for you to no purpose (and failed).
Night and day we pray exceedingly that we might see you in person, and might perfect (restore) (repair) that which is lacking in your faith.

Walk worthily of God, fully pleasing him. Bear fruit in every good work, and increase in the knowledge (Greek: epignosis: full discernment, recognition) of God. God will strengthen you with all power, according to the might of his glory, to all patience and longsuffering with joy.
And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you. May he resolutely strengthen your hearts without blame in holiness before God, our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his holy ones.
Therefore leaving the elementary truths of the doctrine of Christ let us move on to maturity. Let us not lay again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God. We should not repeat the basic teachings about baptisms, and of the laying on of hands (setting apart for holy tasks), and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. We will do this if God permits.
