Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God, even our Father, who has loved us and has given us eternal consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and confirm you in every good word and work.

For thou hast girded me with strength for the battle; thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

In that day the LORD of the hosts shall be for a crown of glory and for a diadem of beauty unto the residue of his people, And for a spirit of judgment to him that sits upon the throne of judgment, and for strength to those that turn the battle to the gate.

And with flatteries he shall cause to sin those that violate the covenant, but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

They go forth in a great multitude; and in order, they shall see God in Zion.

And this I pray that your charity may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all perception, that ye may approve the best, that ye may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ, being filled with fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Not as though I had already attained it, either were already perfect, but I follow after, if I may lay hold of that for which I have also been laid hold of by the Christ, Jesus. Brethren, I do not reckon to have laid hold of it yet, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and extending myself unto those things which are ahead, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. read more.
Let us, therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded; and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

that ye might walk worthy of the Lord, pleasing him in everything, being fruitful in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might, according to the power of his glory unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness,

And the Lord make you to multiply and make charity to abound among you and toward all men, even as it is with us toward you, that your hearts may be confirmed in holiness, irreprehensible before God, even our Father, for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Therefore, leaving now the word of the beginning of the establishment of the Christ, let us go on unto perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from works of death, and of faith in God, of the doctrine of the baptisms, and of the laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will indeed do, if God permits.

Having therefore left all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envies and all murmurings, as newborn babes, desire the rational milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby in health; if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is benevolent;

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Here there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye are Christ's, then ye are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

For the same Spirit bears witness unto our spirit that we are sons of God, and if sons, also heirs certainly of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if so be that we suffer with him that we may be also glorified together with him.

Even so we, when we were children, were in slavery under the elements of the world, but when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. read more.
And because ye are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father; therefore, thou art no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

that in the dispensation of the fulfillment of the times he might restore all things by the Christ, both those which are in heaven and those which are on earth, in him in whom likewise we have obtained an inheritance, having had the way marked out beforehand according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will,

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, asking that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that ye might walk worthy of the Lord, pleasing him in everything, being fruitful in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might, according to the power of his glory unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness, read more.
giving thanks unto the Father, who has made us worthy to participate in the inheritance of the saints in light,

For we ourselves also were foolish in another time, rebellious, deceived, serving diverse lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, read more.
which he poured out abundantly in us through Jesus, the Christ, our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

If ye endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father does not chasten? But if ye are without chastisement, of which all the sons are partakers, then ye are bastards, and not sons. Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence; is it not much better to be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and we shall live? read more.
For they verily for a few days chastened us as it seemed good unto them, but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

For this cause I, Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, if ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which has been given to me in you, how that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery (as I wrote above in a few words, read more.
by which, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of the Christ), which in other generations was not made known unto the sons of men as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit, that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs and of the same body and partakers of his promise in the Christ by the gospel,

I say then, Has God cast away his people? No, in no wise. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not cast away his people whom he knew beforehand. Know ye not what the scripture says of Elijah? how speaking to God against Israel, he said, Lord, they have killed thy prophets and ruined thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. read more.
But what did the answer of God say unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee before Baal. Even so then at this present time also, there is a remnant by the gracious election of God. And if by grace, then is it not by works; otherwise, the grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, then it is no longer grace; otherwise, the work is no longer work. What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks after; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded (according as it is written, God has given them the spirit of anguish, eyes with which they do not see and ears with which they do not hear) unto this day. And David says, Let their table be turned into a snare and a net and a stumblingblock and a recompense unto them; Let their eyes be darkened that they may not see, and bow down their back always. I say then, Have they stumbled in such a manner that they should fall completely? No, in no wise; but rather through their fall, saving health is come unto the Gentiles to provoke them unto jealousy. And if the fall of them is the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles, how much more shall their fullness be? For (I call you Gentiles) inasmuch as I am truly the apostle of the Gentiles, my honorable ministry, if in any manner I may provoke my nation to jealousy and cause some of them to be saved. For if the casting away of them is the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead? For if the firstfruit is holy, so shall the rest be; and if the root is holy, so shall be the branches. And if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them and hath been made participant of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree,

Therefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the fellowship of the blood of the Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the fellowship of the body of the Christ? read more.
For one loaf of bread means that many are one body, for we are all partakers of that one loaf. Behold Israel after the flesh: are not those who eat of the sacrifices participants of the altar?

giving thanks unto the Father, who has made us worthy to participate in the inheritance of the saints in light, who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son, in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the remission of sins,

Let all that are under the yoke of slavery count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine not be blasphemed. And those that have faithful masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren, but rather serve them better, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. Teach and exhort this.

Beloved, think it not strange when you are tried by fire (which is done to prove you) as though some strange thing happened unto you, but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of the afflictions of the Christ, so that also in the revelation of his glory, ye may rejoice in triumph. If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; for the glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you; certainly on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.

Simon Peter, slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those that have obtained like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you in the knowledge of God and of our Lord Jesus, as all things that pertain to life and to godliness are given us of his divine power, through the knowledge of him that has called us by his glory and virtue, read more.
whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these ye might be made participants of the divine nature, having fled the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Then Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh; and Moses cried unto the LORD because of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh.

Then Moses grieved before the LORD his God and said, LORD, why shall thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians speak and say, For evil did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains and to consume them from upon the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath and repent of the evil of thy people. Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy slaves, to whom thou didst sware by thine own self and hast said unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall take it for inheritance for ever.
