But we see him who was made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, on account of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor; that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one. For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren; read more.

When Jesus had thus spoken, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father! the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that the Son may glorify thee; according as thou gavest him authority over all flesh, that he should give everlasting life to all whom thou hast given him. I have glorified thee on the earth, having finished the work which thou gavest me to do; and now, Father! do thou glorify me with thyself, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I manifested thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world. Thine they were, and thou gavest them to me; and they have kept thy word. Now they know that all things whatever thou hast given me are from thee; for I have given to them the words which thou hast given me; and they received them, and knew surely that I came forth from thee, and believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them; I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me; for they are thine; and all things that are mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And I am no longer in the world; and they are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father! keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one, even as we are. While I was with them, I kept them in thy name which thou hast given me, and guarded them; and no one of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture may be fulfilled. But now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy made full in them. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I do not pray thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in thy truth; thy word is truth. As thou didst send me into the world, I also sent them into the world. And in their behalf I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified in the truth. Yet not for these alone do I pray, but also for those who believe in me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me and I in thee, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that thou didst send me. And I made known to them thy name, and will make it known; that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Jesus therefore said to them, I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me will not hunger; and he that believeth in me will never thirst. For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but had been made eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when such a voice as this was borne to him from the excellent glory: "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." And this voice we heard borne from heaven when we were with him in the holy mount.

When therefore he had gone out, Jesus saith, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and will immediately glorify him.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, if it abide not in the vine, so neither can ye, unless ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit; for apart from me ye can do nothing. If any one abideth not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather it, and cast it into the fire, and it is burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever ye will, and it shall be done for you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; and ye will become my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye will abide in my love, even as I have kept my Fathers commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full. This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things which I have heard from my Father, I have made known to you. Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever ye ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. This I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hateth you, ye know that it hath hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments; and I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever; the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot receive, because it doth not behold it, nor know it; ye know it, because it abideth with you, and will be in you. Yet not for these alone do I pray, but also for those who believe in me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me and I in thee, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that thou didst send me. And the glory which thou hast given me, I have given them, that they may be one, even as we are one;

Jesus answered them, I have told you, and ye do not believe. The works that I do in my Fathers name, these bear witness of me. But ye do not believe, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said to you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; read more.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that, though thou didst hide these things from the wise and discerning, thou didst reveal them to babes. Yea, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things were delivered to me by my Father; and no one knoweth the Son but the Father; nor doth any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom it is the will of the Son to reveal him.

Jesus therefore cried aloud, teaching in the temple and saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but there is in truth one who sent me, whom ye know not. I know him, because I am from him, and he hath sent me.

Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets also died. Whom dost thou make thyself? Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom ye say, He is our God: yet ye know him not; but I know him. And if I should say, I know him not, I should be a liar like you. Jesus therefore said, Truly, truly do I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All those who came are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; if any one enter through me, he will be saved, and will go in and out, and find pasture. read more.
The thief cometh not but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I came that they might have life, and have abundance. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. He that is a hireling and not a shepherd, nor the owner of the sheep, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth; and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep; because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and I know my sheep, and they know me, even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father; and I give my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; them also I must bring; and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. On this account the Father loveth me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever ye will, and it shall be done for you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; and ye will become my disciples. for as many of you as were baptized into Christ, did put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is no male and female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus; and if ye belong to Christ, then are ye Abrahams offspring, heirs according to the promise.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or freemen; and were all made to drink one Spirit.
