I have made known thy name to the men that thou gavest me out of the world. Thine they were, and thou gavest them, to me, and they have kept thy word.

And no man has ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, the Son of man, who is in heaven.

Jesus said to her: Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God.

The Lord, therefore, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven: and he sat down at the right hand of God.

Then he opened their mind, that they might understand the scriptures, and he said to them: Thus it is written, and thus was it necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. read more.
You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you. But do you remain in the city of Jerusalem, till you be clothed with power from on high. And he led them out as far as Bethany; and he lifted up his hands and blessed them. And it came to pass, that as he blessed them, he was separated from them, and carried up into heaven.

And no man has ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, the Son of man, who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up;

Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come that he must go out of this world to his Father; and having loved his own that were in the world, he loved them to the end. And supper being over, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to deliver him up, Jesus, knowing that the Father had delivered all things into his hands, and that he had come from God, and was going to God,

But grace has been given to each one of us, according to the measure of the gift of the Christ. For which reason, the scripture says: When he ascended on high, he led captive a multitude of captives, and gave gifts to men. the likeness of which, even immersion, (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the seeking of a good conscience toward God,) does now also save us, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven, and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having become subject to him.

Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life; he that comes to me shall never hunger; he that believes on me shall never thirst. But I said to you, that you have seen me, and yet you do not believe. All that the Father gives me, will come to me; and him that comes to me, I will by no means cast out. read more.
For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

Then spoke Jesus to them again; I go away, and you will seek me, and in your sin you shall die; whither I go, you can not come. Then said the Jews: Will he kill himself, because he says, Whither I go, you can not come? And he said to them: You are from beneath, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.

This man came to Jesus by night, and said to him: Rabbi, we know that thou hast come as a teacher from God; for no man can do these signs which thou doest, unless God be with him.

GOD, who in many parts and in many ways spoke in ancient times to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom, also, he made the ages;

I have made known thy name to the men that thou gavest me out of the world. Thine they were, and thou gavest them, to me, and they have kept thy word.

which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all his members with all things,

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night, and said to him: Rabbi, we know that thou hast come as a teacher from God; for no man can do these signs which thou doest, unless God be with him. Jesus answered and said to him: Verily, verily I say to you, unless a man be born again, he can not see the kingdom of God. read more.
Nicodemus said to him: How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb the second time, and be born? Jesus answered: Verily, verily I say to you, unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God. That which is begotten of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is begotten of the Spirit, is spirit. Wonder not that I said to you, you must all be born again, The Spirit breathes where he pleases, and you hear his voice, but you know not whence he comes, and whither he goes; so is every one that is begotten of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said to him: How can these things be? Jesus answered and said to him: Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not understand these things? Verily, verily, I say to you, we speak that which we know, and testify to that which we have seen; and you receive not our testimony. If I have told you of earthly things, and you believe not, how will you believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man has ascended into heaven, but he who came down from heaven, the Son of man, who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up; that whoever believes on him may not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes on him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world, through him, might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned; but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men have loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil, hates the light, and comes not to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he that does the truth, comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest that they are done in God.

and yet you refuse to come to me, that you may have life.

Verily, verily I say to you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has eternal life, and comes not into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. Verily, verily I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear, shall live. For as the Father has life in himself, so has he given to the Son also to have life in himself;

Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believes on me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and he that lives and believes on me, shall never die. Do you believe this?

THAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled concerning the Word of life; (the life also was manifested, and we have seen, and do testify, and declare to you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us;)

Jesus answered and said to him: Verily, verily I say to you, unless a man be born again, he can not see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to him: How can a man be born when he is old? as thou hast given him authority over all flesh, that he may give eternal life to all that thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, to know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou has sent.

Therefore, we are buried with him, by immersion, into death, that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so also we should walk in a new life. For if we have become united to him by the likeness of his death, we shall certainly be united to him by the likeness of his resurrection;

But now, since you have been made free from sin, and have become servants to God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal "life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
