Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the Devil. And when he had tasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread. read more.

Jesus said to him, Again it is written, "Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God." Again, the Devil taketh him m an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory; and said to him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus to him, Be gone, Satan! for it is written, "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."

And Jesus answering said to him, It hath been said, "Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God." And when he had brought every temptation to an end, the Devil departed from him for a season.
