20 Bible Verses about Comfort

And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be long-suffering toward all.

But he that prophesies speaks to men to edification and exhortation and comfort.

for ye all can prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all be exhorted.

so that, on the contrary, ye ought rather to forgive and console him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his excessive sorrow.

But God, who consoleth the lowly, consoled us by the coming of Titus;

These things have I spoken to you, that in Me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

And, seeing her, the Lord was moved with compassion towards her, and said to her, "Weep not."

"Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in Me.

I will not leave you orphans; I am coming to you.

And Jesus, turning and seeing her, said, "Be of good courage, daughter, your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all consolation; Who consoleth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to console those who are in any tribulation, through the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God.

The Jews, therefore, who were with her in the house, and were comforting her, seeing Mary, that she rose up quickly and went out, followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb, to weep there.

and I will ask of the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, that He may be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, Whom the world cannot receive, because it beholds Him not, neither knows Him: ye know Him, because He abideth with you, and will be in you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, unless ye abide in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abides in Me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit; because, apart from Me, ye can do nothing. Unless one abides in Me, he was cast forth as a branch, and withered; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will, and it shall be done to you. In this was My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, and become My disciples. Even as the Father loved Me, I also loved you; abide in My love. If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love. These things have I spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. This is My commandment, that ye love one another, even as I loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his soul for his friends. Ye are My friends, if ye do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves; because the slave knows not what his lord is doing; but I have called you friends, because all things which I heard from My Father I made known to you. Ye did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should abide; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you. These things I command you, that ye may love one another. If the world hates you, ye know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, on this account the world hates you. Remember the word which I spake to you, 'A servant is not greater than his lord.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do to you for My name's sake; because they know not Him Who sent Me. "Had I not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. Had I not done among them the works which no other did, they would not have had sin; but now have they both seen and hated both Me and My Father; but this they do, that the word may be fulfilled, which has been written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.' "When the Advocate shall come, Whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, Who proceedeth from the Father, He will testify concerning Me;

And now I go to Him Who sent Me; and no one of you asks Me, 'Whither goest Thou?' But, because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. But I tell you the truth: it is expedient for you that I go away; for, if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but, if I go, I will send Him to you, read more.
And, having come, He will convict the world respecting sin, and righteousness, and judgment: respecting sin, because they believe not on Me; respecting righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye no longer behold Me; and respecting judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. "I have yet many things to say to you; but ye are not able to hear them now. But, when He, the Spirit of truth, shall come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak from Himself; but whatsoever He heareth He will speak; and He will declare to you things to come. He will glorify Me; because He will take of Mine, and will declare it to you. All things whatsoever the Father hath are Mine; on this account, I said, that He taketh of Mine, and will declare it to you.

"Happy are those who mourn: because they shall be comforted,

But, whether we be in tribulation, it is for your consolation and salvation; or, whether we are consoled, it is for your consolation, which is effective in the endurance of the same sufferings which we also suffer;

Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfected, be comforted, think the same thing; be at peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that, in your lifetime, you received in full your good things, and Lazarus, likewise, evil things; but now here he is comforted, and you are in anguish.

Because, as the sufferings of Christ abound toward us, so through Christ our consolation also abounds. for where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them."

teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I commanded you; and, behold, I am with you all the days, even to the end of the age."

"Happy are those who mourn: because they shall be comforted,

I say to you, that so there will be joy in Heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over ninety-nine righteous men who have no need of repentance.
