And Jehovah said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people that are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

But he, being merciful, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: Yea, many a time turned he his anger away, And did not stir up all his wrath.

For though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love; and I was to them as they that lift up the yoke on their jaws; and I laid food before them.

that then Jehovah thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the peoples, whither Jehovah thy God hath scattered thee.

Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth over the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in lovingkindness. Jehovah is gracious, and merciful; Slow to anger, and of great lovingkindness.

But thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.

And they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their redeemer. But they flattered him with their mouth, And lied unto him with their tongue. For their heart was not right with him, Neither were they faithful in his covenant. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were distressed and scattered, as sheep not having a shepherd.

and some save, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

For ye both had compassion on them that were in bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of you possessions, knowing that ye have for yourselves a better possession and an abiding one.

And the barbarians showed us no common kindness; for they kindled a fire, and received us all, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

Jesus wept.

It is of Jehovah's lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
