And she brought forth her son, the first-born, and swathed him, and laid him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And the angel said to them, Fear not; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For to you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign to you; ye shall find the babe, wrapped in swaddling-clothes, lying in a manger.

And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give him the throne of his father David.read more.
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob; for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answering said to her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that Holy thing which shall be born, shall be called the Son of God.

And the Word was made flesh, and tabernacled among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.

This was the true light, who lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God hath done: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, to be a sacrifice for sin, he hath condemned sin in the flesh:

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem those under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God; Yet emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.

The mystery of godliness is the pillar and ground of the truth, and without controversy a great thing: God was manifested in the flesh, was justified by the spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up into glory.

Since then the children partake of flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil:

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have beheld, and our hands have handled of the word of life: For the life was manifested, and we have seen, and testify and declare to you the eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested to us:

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

For he hath made him, who knew no sin, a sin-offering for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God through him.

let us hold fast our profession, For we have not an high-priest who cannot sympathize with our infirmities, but who was in all points tempted like as we are: yet without sin.

For such an high priest became us, holy, harmless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens: Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for his own sins, then for those of the people: for this he did once for all, when he offered up himself. But God recommendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved through his life.read more.
And not only so, but we also glory in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the reconciliation.

I am come to send fire on the earth. And what do I desire? That it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to be baptized with: and how am I straitned till it be accomplished!

Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

I have glorified thee on earth. I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

And behold, there had been a great earthquake, and an angel of the Lord descending from heaven, had come and rolled away the stone from the door and sat upon it. And on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the sepulchre, bringing the spices, which they had prepared and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre, And entering, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And while they were perplexed concerning it,read more.

Then she runneth and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. Then Peter went out and the other disciple, and ran toward the sepulchre.read more.
They both ran together: but the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. And stooping down, he saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but folded up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who came first to the sepulchre, went in; and he saw and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

Remember Jesus Christ of the seed of David, raised from the dead according to my gospel; For which I endure affliction even unto bonds, as an evil-doer, but the word of God is not bound. Therefore I suffer all things for the elect's sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is through Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

And if Christ be not raised, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

What shall we say then? We will continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we who are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that as many of us have been baptized into Jesus Christ, have been baptized into his death?read more.
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death, that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life. Neither present your members to sin, as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members to God, as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

And having spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up, and a cloud received him from their sight.

So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven, and sat on the right-hand of God.

And he led them out as far as Bethany; and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. And while he was blessing them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

The former treatise have I composed, O Theophilus, of all things which Jesus began both to do and to teach, Until the day he was taken up, after having thro' the Holy Ghost given commandment to the apostles, whom he had chosen:

Being therefore exalted by the right-hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is also at the right-hand of God, who likewise maketh intercession for us.

If ye then are risen with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ sitteth at the right-hand of God.

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and sustaining all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high,

who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right-hand of the throne of God.
