When he said above, "You did not desire, nor did you take pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings" (these are offered according to the law), then he said, "Behold, I have come to do your will." He takes away the first in order to establish the second. And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest stands daily at his service, offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when he had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies be made a stool for his feet.
And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the transgressions committed under the first covenant. For where a will is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it. For a will is in force only when somebody has died, since it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. This is why even the first covenant was not ratified without blood. For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you." And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels used in worship. Indeed, under the law almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to sanctify the people through his own blood.
You know that you were redeemed from the futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
