But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and, bringing a certain part, laid it at the feet of the apostles. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thy heart, to lie to the Holy Ghost? read more.
And to keep back part of the price of the land? While it remained, did it not remain thine? And when it was sold, was it not in thy power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thy heart? Thou hast not lied to men, but to God. And Ananias hearing these words, fell down and expired; and great fear came on all that heard these things. And the young men arose, wound him up, and carrying him out, buried him. And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. They say to him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out the vineyard to other husbandmen who will render him the fruits in their seasons.

And again he sent another, and him they killed; and many others, beating some and killing some. Having yet therefore one son his well-beloved, he sent him also last to them, saying, They will reverence my son. But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. And they took him and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard. What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.

And again he sent another servant; and they beat him also, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. read more.
And again he sent a third; and they wounded him also, and cast him out. Then said the Lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps seeing him they will reverence him. What therefore will the Lord of the vineyard do to them? He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and give the vineyard to others.
